Has there ever been a brass and plastic hybrid (brastic for short)? Once upon a time, I would have thought this was too much weight for plastic to handle, but modern plastic throws are super durable, and some extremely chunky stainless rims have been used on hybrids without issue.
While we’re at it, why aren’t there more inner-rim hybrids? The only ones I can think of are a few 4A yoyos (Flawless Air, EOM, Jet Set EX, etc.).
I mean we got jake bullock’s dunk LX this year, as well as the yyf x mowl protostar (with ti rings ) and historically we had the yyf proto/northstars, the buzz-on element x, and plenty of other inner ring hybrids.
There have been many brass and plastic hybrids. Yoyojam produced several plastic yoyos with brass rims back in the day. To list a few:
Mini Mo-tu
Mini Mo-trix
Speeder
Super and Mega Spinfaktor
The YYJ Black Nova and Doc Pop’s Super scientist were also sporting brass rings if I recall correctly. I don’t think they were anodized aluminum at that time.
They also had the Copperhead and Heavy Gravity which were all plastic models that had composite molded rims that contained copper and aluminum powder mixed into the mold to try to add more rim weight. So it was technically a Hybrid of sorts using different metals.
It was pretty cool because you could actually get a little sheen when polishing the rims.
