What is the trick where Andre Boulay whips up the yoyo and it spins around his thumb, like a matador.

yep, thumb grind.
basically you throw a spinner and pop the yoyo up onto your thumb so it spins on your thumb with your thumb in the inner rim.

Its a 180 thumb grind. Basically, he does a thumb grind and tilts his had so that the yoyo goes straight.
If you notice, the scene is cut in the video when he does this, because the dismount is really hard, you basically have to whip into a flop. Crazy stuff.

From what i saw, its quite simple. Just throw a ufo, don’t let the string ufo though, and put your thumb into it. Thats all. Just practice, i’m getting it!
