This week we’re going to work on a classic. I believe it first appeared on a Duncan dvd. Here are two versions. The yo tricks one has the original entry to wrist mount. The cabin tut has a slightly modified entry. Hope yall enjoy! Good luck and have fun!
This is an interesting trick. I decided to look into it. If anyone’s interested, below is Takeshi’s (original?) version from 0:33. As I understand it, the Yotricks tutorial has the exact same entry to the Wrist Mount, and then there’s a modified version of the trick. Ernest (on CLYW) came up with his own entry, but he kept the rest of it like Takeshi’s. If you combine the two tutorials, you’ll get something like Takeshi’s. So it was a great idea to keep both tutorials together. Now all I have to do is learn this trick😁
Didn’t like the OG entrance, the flow of it felt really wack, and since Ernest already changed up the wrist mount entrance (probably for the same reason I described), I figured I’d just do my own entrance.
It’s the way you have to both untangle your NTH finger and insert your TH into the mount at the same time. If you only had to do one of these things I feel like you could easily hide it in the motion of the trick, but when you watch Takeshi or anybody else do that element you can just visibly see them stop yoyoing for a moment to fumble with the strings at that point.
Cool trick apart from this nitpick however, and tbh considering the age of the trick, I feel like that entrance was probably dope for the time it was made.
This week we’re going to work on this Gormley element. Honestly not much to say up front on this one so we’ll dive right in. Good luck, have fun, and have a great weekend!
All right everyone, I need a little help… specifically with the second roll after catching the slack with your thumb. Clearly I’m doing something wrong…
Thanks for the illustration… this is actually what I’ve been trying to do, still can’t get it the yoyo seems to automatically go into that front string.
Having my NTH thumb angled back towards my body, more than just straight down helps me a lot. Really try to open up your NTH as much as possible to increase the size of that green zone illustrated.
Yo we’re gonna do another Raytsh tut. This week is Mr. Pink. They call the opening a suicide, but it is an undercut where you toss it like a suicide but go cross arm and just pass through the string for a cross arm trapeze. The next slack is easy also and looks cool. The string dropping feels really good. The ending from the funky ToN to trapeze is fun and satisfying! Have fun yall.
