Trick-a-Week 2025- #13 Rancid Milk

where is the yoyo swinging to land in the gt? in between the strings?

so once you catch the brother slack and dismount the yo to your throw hand side, you swing it ckockwise behind the entire configuration and then place it on the kinda front/bottom string that you’re holding in your non throw hand. sry this isnt the best pov, i don’t have a pov rig so i had to makeshift something. hope it illustrates. let me know if any of this didn’t clear things up for you

edit: it should be the same string you’re dismounting it from. you’re just doing the swing around to create the wrap around the string needed for the triangle

I’m a slow learner, but discovering this thread has made me decide to start learning Spirit Bomb. Working on the 2nd hop… and consistency on the 1st half

heck yea, welcome! take your time and learn at your own pace. always feel free to ask if you need help or tips, regardless of which trick or how long ago we ran it

spirit bomb can certainly be a tricky one to get at first. keep at it and you’ll be nailing it in no time!

Week 12 — Candy Rain

Continuing the theme of classic tricks this month, this week we’re learning Candy Rain by Gabe Lozano.

This is a lengthier trick than most of what we’ve done, but the individual elements aren’t what make it tricky to learn. It’s a good exercise in finger dexterity (and memory). The only real requisite trick here is magic drop, so if you’re still struggling with it let us know and we’ll give you some tips.

If you already know the trick and are looking for a challenge, learn Candy Rain 2 or Candy Rain 3 (3 is much tougher). Or, as always, try to do it on a responsive yo-yo.

Here’s a video of Gabe doing it many many years ago for anyone curious:

Like that you posted the OG version of candy rain 2. It’s been one of my favorite “genre” of tricks since I started. Candy Rain rain 3 was always on my bucket list too. Watching Sakatuca execute it so smooth is something I still need to work towards.

Here is a playlist of all the candy rain variations. Curious if there are any that I might have missed any variations let me know.

Any tips on getting that magic drop over the other hand would be appreciated. I’ve always had trouble with that step in candy Rain.
Thanks!

Move your hands closer together after the magic drop and aim the magic drop towards the nth vs like straight up. If this doesnt make sense i can send a video or if you send a vid maybe we can spot what the issue is.

Here’s my take doing it responsive. I’d cut it earlier but my cat taking out the camera on her mad dash to food was too good.

the best part is that look on your face that you saw it coming but resigned to let it happen :joy:
