Trick-a-Week 2023 - #52 - Control Workshop

Yes that was exactly what I was talking about. I need to do the inverse of what you suggested however as I keep giving myself too much slack and it gets caught in the gap when I toss over. Either way thanks for the advice! I’ve been in that mount plenty of times as you can get to it by failing a frontwards Magic Drop but this is the first trick to actually utilize it to any capacity.

I was having this problem too and it kept getting stuck on my other fingers. Try to cross your arms even more and that might make extra space so it doesn’t go to far. I also started releasing the pinch a bit earlier and that helped shorten it to a good length

I had a combo planned with more TAW elements that I’ve missed but I’m not good enough to land it yet, my plane management is dreadful.

Here’s a much simpler TAW element combo. Can you spot em all? :full_moon:

Weeks

29: Esíčka, 38: Branding, 24: Kamikaze and 28: Lotus Bloom. Good job.

Here’s a closer look at the halfway between revolution and branding thing I got from @lil_Corky03 on insta.

What’s the move you’re doing right before lotus bloom?

Also this kind of thing seems like an excellent… December? Kind of TAW thing. “Incorporate a bunch of stuff from the year.”

Here’s my beginning of week - I like that repeater tension hook. I did it an extra time here by accident because sometimes I just do a bunch in a row.

Working on this now. I feel like so awkward trying to whip the slack around. Kinda like how cheese whip is, bigger type slack whip motions just feel awkward doing for me. Well see how it goes. Having the issue @Benthrowsyoyo said about when you pull the slack it getting stuck in the gap and also after that I have caught some other unwanted fingers besides my thumb. Gonna have to try this with a new string even with all the tension out my string is twisted like crazy.

If you miss the first time you throw the slack and go back and try it again it’s easy to add twists to the string by like rolling the pinch might be the problem also make sure the pinch isn’t like rolling over

Man I can already tell just from working on this one that this is gonna be one of my favorites, I just love the elements and flow to this trick. This is also one where I feel like the average non yoyo person is gonna think it’s really impressive

I have to say, @GTDropKnot, your perseverance and thus progress really is a pleasure to witness. If you keep this pace, you will be an absolute beast in no time.

Agreed tho. Henry’s progress in less than a year is pretty impressive. He’s got that “superstar X factor” development trait man it’s not fair :skull: (gamers will get that)

There’s gotta be an underlying secret in that damn Hades

Nah I think he just practices a LOT, my Hades doesn’t make me play any better :joy: or they forgot to put the magic juice that makes you yoyo better in mine

He definitely practices a lot and it shows lol but I also don’t wanna discredit his natural talent at it because some of the stuff he picks up on right away and can get down within like hours is something a lot of us can’t do, or maybe it’s just my derpy self idk Lmao
