Tips for trying to fix some old yoyos

Hopefully someone will have advice. I have a few of these older Fireballs that won’t come apart. Something is clearly cracked or rounded internally, so you can hear the bolt inside click as you try to spin it apart. Is there any way to get these apart without risking breaking it with the glued on caps? I have a few that are also in fine shape so it’s not like…. crazy pressing, but I’ve got a few lots of older yoyos and me being me, I wanna get as many of them as possible in good working order to maybe rehome a few, since I don’t need 6 of the same thing. lol

I have had some success by pulling on each half as you unscrew it. The problem is if the bit the nut sits in is worn or broken to that extent you won’t be able to put them back together. Another approach is to drill a 1/4 or 3/8 inch hole in the center of the caps and try to reset the nuts with epoxy. I’ve never done this but I saw it described on a now defunct forum.

I have used an exacto knife to remove the cap. They’re sonically welded. It’s tedious to cut around the edge.

Yeah I’ve cut the caps off it’s a pain and not really worth it and they don’t go back on cleanly. Drilling and using epoxy sounds promising.

I’ll look into that, but sadly, having neither a drill nor apoxy, that might mean my answer is “deal with them or give them to someone else to fix”. lol I tried the pull system but it didn’t work.
