The Yoyonation forums are gone for good...

Extreme Spin

Time out, since when was yoyoing.com/news archived? Good god I must know.

I’d like to know where this is too. Every time I’ve tried it on the wayback machine all you can see is the page with the topics on it, past that nothing comes up :-\

Awesome! I don’t see any possible downsides to this.

Contact greg, he took it down because of some re coding and just never did it. I didn’t mean too suggest you could find it online. Just that it is still complete somewhere.

I’ve been a bit nostalgic for my time there, Ed kindly answered whatever fool question about yo-yoing crossed my consciousness, and I made quite a few online friends there.

An archived forum would be awesome. Even if PW protected.

I actually googled yoyonation in an attempt to look up some of my old contacts from “back in the day”

Also - Hi everyone! That search brought me here. Not sure if anyone remembers me from YYN forums. Im sure ill recognize a few on here

Geez! I remember being on the Extreme Spin forum all the time!!! So many late night yo-yo discussions… Lol

Sorry for the necro, but just wanted to weigh in nostalgically. It would still cost something to put old forum data up and make it accessible publicly, unfortunately. But I remember wget-ing several years of yoyoing.com because I thought it would be of historical interest someday. Once distilled, it could be the threaded equivalent of Malko’s book, which I always enjoyed because it showed the good and the not-so-good aspects of yo-yoing (e.g. the loneliness of demonstrators back in the day). And just like the early days of yo-yoing that “The One and Only Yo-Yo Book” covers, I believe the 90s and early millennium period that are reflected in these webboards deserve coverage, if only for the burgeoning development of all aspects of yo-yoing that occurred during that time.

This post, for some reason just made me think of the times waiting to get a ride to the mall so I could see what the YoYo Cart had gotten in that week. Hoping he would finally let me try the Cold Fusion. Once a kid in my neighborhood and I rode our bikes 12 miles one way to get to the mall to hang out at the YoYo Cart. We both wound up grounded over that, neither of us told anyone we were doing that, and ended up getting home really late.

Things kids these days will never experience ;D
