That’s right. The problem is that people sometimes apply too much force. The key is to slightly move it. But I guess with a bearing tool it is safer
Are you sure? The damage can be very subtle.
I have never damaged a bearing with pliers, and I’ve had very tight bearing seats. With no damage I mean that the bearing spins good and no marks at all
I’m a pliers guy. Unless it’s death grip tight I’m not gonna damage the bearing.
I haven’t had good luck with bearing tools. Maybe I need to get the longer MYY style one vs the YYF one. And if I do manage to get the bearing off, it’s ended up stuck on the bearing tool.
If I’m disassembling a throw, it’s because the bearing is locking up, so if I damage the bearing, I’m not gonna be heartbroken if I need to chuck it.
No worries, fam. My fault too for helping to stir this up. Still curious if the bearing seats were tight if you’ve taken it apart but no big if not. Just not sure what to expect at $120 from YYE; I’ve only ever bought their more expensive stuff on A-May-Zing sales.
Yeah man I dunno. I don’t have a Bi Metal Shutter yet, but I have an EDGE Beyond—well two actually, one which I broke and the replacement I got for free, and they weren’t bad at all. I’ve also had 3 Edges and they were all fine. They’re using a new ano process now and that could make a difference, but my Wangle was fine, other than being screwed together way too tight, which is the biggest problem I’ve had with YYF in general.
The thing about YYF I like is that if you do have a problem they respond and take care of it pretty quickly. I’m always more concerned when I buy anything from a smaller yo-yo maker.
