Rob here, Curator of The Yoyo Archive.
As some of you may know, I took over the Archive last year and have been working on growing it since then. It’s a lot of work for a single person, so progress has been slow, but steady!
Now that 2025 is here, I’ve set a few goals for the Archive:
- Gather more stories!
- Make more industry connections
- Contribute more to the community
- Setup a stable flow of information to the Archive
- Find “staff” contributors
- Start accepting donations
That last bit is important. The Yoyo Archive doesn’t have a budget and is currently a line item of the Throw-Yo Threads budget. The goal here is for the Archive to be self-sustaining. First by being able to pay for its own hosting, then to use extra funds to purchase items for giveaways, make donations, etc… I’ve setup a Liberapay account for those who may want to help the Archive out.
With that unpleasantness out of the way, I’d like to move on to more exciting things. In the next few weeks, I’ll be getting up a submission form for people to submit stories, information, photos, etc… I’ll also be putting out a call for contributors who may want to have a regular column on the site, or to catalog their favorite company, etc…
Also, if you’re a yo-yo brand and want representation on the Archive, reach out to me! Other than just cataloging your throws, I’d love to set up communication so the Archive can be a solid outlet for yo-yo news and reviews of new and upcoming throws.
Thank you everyone who has helped the Archive grow since I’ve taken over. I know it’s been slow, but 2025 is going to be our year!
