The Ultimate Counterweight Thread

Where do you get these? I just got my first bead like this when i picked up the double candy dice, and it really is a game changer for restringing. Interested in getting some more

Candy Dice and Fairy Crystal Lab are the only two brands making them I think. Candy Dice used to sell packs of spare beads.

If you have access to a 3D printer or know somebody with one, beads like this would be extremely fast and easy to print. If you want more I’d recommend just printing some on your own.

Genuinely baffles me a bit that these aren’t more common. They can be prone to having the groove chip off if played heavily with a bearing counterweight, and the slightly bigger size makes them not ideal for the Porykon style bead lock design (the bead trapping design to keep the bead/cw together as a single unit that won’t separate during play). So I do see valid reasons to not want to use the design, but it also just feels like most people making/selling counterweights just really don’t give any thought at all to the bead. Kind of unfortunate.

Here’s some pics of our new counterweights Berriez. More information on the sizes and weights on our Burnt Love socials.

We’re getting ready for packaging, a few more videos and official photos. We have a few available as a trade deal as well in the meantime. Also potentially other 3D print counterweights that we’ve made will also be available around the same time. We still need to name those and come up with a logo.

The regular size and the Big Berriez have a small bearing included to act like a bead. At least the way I use it is for non-astro style play so you can get some longer spin top like tricks even on the string. Off the string it’s also a fun just as a spin top and fidget.

The collapsible design fits hand well, in pretty much any case and pocket, and also is fairly ouch free for body(including if you were accidentally step on it bare foot, roll on or sit on it) and yoyos. Also the sound of it against the yoyo is rather quiet compared to a traditional solid counterweight.

More colors will be available as we go through our current filament and hopefully if sales go well we can also print a TPU version for extra squish.

In the time we were using to get ready for the Berriez release we finalized/designed and printed a few bearingized counterweights. So now we have two new counterweight releases at the same time…

Frenzy Cubez

First designs

And hopefully in either another run soon or even a collaboration these and more designs to come

Has there ever been a release of the Duncan “bell” Delrin counterweight? They came with the original Freehand ALs, but I’ve never seen them offered for sale anywhere.

iirc that was called the ”Rapid Bullet,” but no, that never got released outside of being bundled with some of the AL Freehands.
