Thanks @Evertonian, this is what I am looking for. To me, yoyo-ing is about having fun so I try to fill my collection with interesting and fun throws - not necessarily performance-oriented throws (although I do have a few just to admire the design and maximized angular momentum). As my first Ti, I was looking for something to experience the unique design properties of Ti but also be fun. Very promising! (As previously mentioned, I will have to wait a few months before I get to throw mine - the anticipation will be fun though. I don’t really care for hype so I don’t need to ride that wave. )
For me, those are one and the same thing.
Totally understandable! To each their own!
Got #120 - so close to my birthday! (1/23)
I would not say the Ti-Vayder is not performanicious. It definitely is, because it has considerable rim weight!
Are there more “performance oriented” yo-yos than the Walker/Vayder? Perhaps, but not to a degree that it would really hinder anyone from doing any tricks or moves, I’d think?
I think a truly “updated 2019, version 2.0” model would be larger though, which would give it more performance simply because it’d have more material spinning. The main criticism you can make is that by today’s standards, this a slightly undersized yo-yo.
@adamantiumpops The packs sent to YYE each have 4 Lightsaber Green (Type X), 4 Lightsaber Blue (Type X), and 4 Lightsaber Red (Plutonium). I am guessing it will be priced somewhere around the sampler pack.
This is fair. However I have noticed that with smaller diameter yoyos you may get less angular momentum (less spin time/power) but instead you get a higher rotation speed (rpm) - this is also fun and makes for super snappy binds. - I love binds, they’re like my favourite thing! haha
That probably helps explain why the Edge has such snappy binds.
Oh word! Thanks boss. I have high hopes, as your string carries its own hype separate from the Vayder itself.
Larger doesn’t necessarily mean more material or longer spin times. Someone did a 10 minute sleeper with a Dingo.
The most fun yoyo is the best performing yoyo
I think “fun” is a subjective thing, where as “performance” is more objective (although not entirely).
@da5id Just want to say that I’m currently loving the Cascade! The shape always intrigued me and I saw one pop up on the BST last year. Took a bit to get used to initially (I was playing the Kuntosh 5000qv a lot before that). It is just so unique feeling! I love it! >>> Old designs are still relevant to some. Throw what you enjoy people!
Thanks! Appreciate that. You are correct, we get so many requests for our old stuff which is why we have been going through and doing new runs. In fact, we are working on a new Cascade run. Appreciate the support!
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! - Also I hope to check out the sugar glider at some point.
The other thing I realized upon opening my Vayder is that you get 1 of each of the 3 strings (I was thinking you got 1 based on the color you pick). So, on top of 500 titanium yoyos, there were also 1500 strings made just to go with them (and apparently even more for these packs going to YYE for sale). Shoutout to @MattB for making that happen. I’ve only used the blue one so far, but really liking it!
Another random thought: I more observed this whole project from afar, as I initially thought there would be no way to afford one. I know this is kinda unprecedented on the forums, and there was some tension, but I think this happening here made it a very cool and special thing for all of us here. We got to come along for the ride as @codinghorror saw to realization this crazy idea: make 500 titanium yoyos of an updated version of a widely loved design, and then selling them for only $140 giving alot of people an opportunity to pick up their first titanium. We got to see it all from the beginning; from the logo design to the web site launch. I’ve also seen a lot of new faces that came here because of this project, and have become regular contributors here (and I hope to see them stick around after!). I’m not saying this should be a regular thing to happen on the forums, but with this particular project, and the way it all turned out, I don’t think would have been the same done any other way. Thank you to @AndreBoulay for all you do for this community. Especially in a case like this that I’m sure wasn’t an easy decision (in a business sense). I hope I get the opportunity to visit your store and shake your hand one day.
so how many are left?
