Good advice. Ive been working on Spirit Bomb on and off for the past 3+ weeks (been really busy so I havent had a lot of yoyo time), and I find myself just going back to old repeaters to relax. Now to choose which new tricks to learn…
Hidemasa Hook is my vote
Looks pretty tricky, guess ill have to choose something easier to complement it, lol
Daaaaamn just landed reverse Brent stole on a dead yoyo troll attempt
wonder if they’d score that in contests
If you’ve got spirit bomb, you’re ready for the Grid Iron! @paulkerbel tricks are always the jam!

but you should check out some of his binds too on ■■■■■■■■■■. Cool binds are always a good option!
I realize he is inactive on this forum, I keep shouting out to him though hoping he will see one day and come join us again! Definitely one of my favorite players!
Holy hell that trick looks crazy. Not quite sure im ready for all that just yet, but maybe soon
I checked out grid iron like a year and a half ago, not long after I started. I got some of the first half down but didn’t go back to it. I think you should also check out this ladder trick →
I learned this one. I think it looks cooler than grid iron too
@eternalmetal
Just hit the entire Tsunami Bomb for the first time!
That 1.5 > Wrist mount transition is nifty! Now to get it smooth.
I love this trick!! Congrats for learning it!
I did a bit of yoing way back in the early 2000’s…never got past stuff like kamikaze and kwyjibo…but I had a bunch of the stuff under those down.
One of my favorites back then was rewind…it just looked and felt so cool! And I got to the point where it was super easy and natural for me.
Well, all these years later…I’ve lost almost everything I knew back then! lol…it’s totally okay though cause I’m really enjoying learning the basics again.
Anyhow…I landed my first rewind today! It’s a really simple trick…but it just feels so good!
My next big goal is to do a rewind into the first half of black hops!
Oh, and I also landed a suicide on my second attempt!
And then I completely missed the next dozen or so attempts! haha >.<’
I use to want to get consistent at suicides SO badly when I was younger. I’d practice just about everyday…attempting over and over and over again. Never did get the hang of it and it was super frustrating and discouraging!
Finally did a 'gyroscopic flop ’ without my yoyo string got all tangled up !
Im VERY happy I landed it!
how many flops?
2 to 3 , then it starts to loses it’s spin. Luckely, I can bind my yo-yo before it stops spinning!
Need some perfection, but I did it!
Got a 1.5 GT down pretty well, as well as finally learning my first iteration of a double GT.
GT suicides are… stressful…
Do a GT suicide with your eyes closed, if you can do that then do a GT REVERSE suicide (good luck on this, I’ve been practicing on and off and almost always end in a knot
)
I had kinda given up learning Brent Stole. I would barely ever land it, and often times if I did land in something resembling a GT, the strings would be all twisted up and wrong. Then the other day I saw it in slow motion in someone’s clip and realized I’d been doing it wrong this whole time. I was trying to get the string to come around from the back to the front instead of from the front to the back. I watched another quick tutorial after that and now I am landing it probably 3/5 tries.
