I’ve been yoyoing for 2 years straight, and i’ve had a blast, but reality isn’t the same. I haven’t been on the same yoyo grind I used to be on to catch up on school and fitness and personal looks. It’s actually pretty scary to think of me quiting yoyo, but it’s never gonna happen. It just hasn’t been very fun at all. If you went to my post about being bullied, yoyoing was kinda a pinpoint, so i just did it at home so they wouldn’t notice. But they did notice! They got a lil concerned about me not yoyoing anymore, which is kinda ironic because they didn’t even care before. Anyways I AM NOT GOING TO STOP YOYOING. Plus i’m like 800 in
Thanks for reading
You are still young and have many major changes in life still ahead of you. You have to do what you have to do. We all do. Hope you’re not a stranger.
You always gotta do what’s best for your mental health!
Makes total sense. Everything in moderation and you can easily take breaks and come back to things. Allot if folks on the forum now where kids who came back to the hobby as adults.
Yo-yos are funny that way. Like many things, they joy from it ebs and flows. Sometimes the spark isn’t there, other times it’s the most fun thing in the world.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they say. It’ll always be here, you got a life to live, no obligation to make room for an inconsequential hobby.
I was a HUGE CoD head for many years, now I have absolutely no desire to play. I haven’t turned on my PS4 in over a year for a game. Occasionally I’ll play some CoDM to scratch an itch or pass some bathroom time or whatever.
Hope to see you around!
Nothing at all wrong with taking a short break, Scoog. you come back whenever you’re ready; yoyo will always be here, and we’ll likely be here as well.
While you’re on break, might you consider taking up writing? I’ve been trying to write more, and it’s been a lot of fun, though I don’t have anybody to write to, I’ve been enjoying it still.
We’ll be waiting for you right here with open arms, buddy.
If it entertains you, do it. If not, then don’t
It won’t be a hobby anymore if you feel obligated to “not quit” it
Its been a while but imma just drop a short update real quick
Ive barely been yoyoing and i always think about it every day. Like this stuff changed my life, and leaving doesnt feel right. I remember the performance i did for my school the week for Night of the Arts before school ended for me. Basically, we do a rehearsal in front of the entire middle school and the actual skits and stuff for the parents. I did rlly well for the rehearsal but bombed the last one, which kinda pissed me off, but thankfully no one noticed. From there, it was a big downfall. I went to my yearly boyscout camped and nuked that performance, but again, no one noticed.
With a life update, Ive been doing a lot of mma stuff. I started wrestling since i started highschool about a month ago, and i could make varsity if i cut. Jiu jitsu and taekwondo have also been going very well too, went up a belt, and almost at orange belt.
One thing that made me not want to yoyo was my peers. As much as good friends they were, doing weird things will get me some not so good responses. If theres a yoyo contest in my state ill def be there
I think you’re doing it right. In the long run, you’ll get a lot more out of those other opportunities that revolve around social interactions.
Yoyo is a hobby that you can do whenever you want and whenever you feel like it – you don’t need to stop doing it entirely – but it can also be isolating. Cherish the opportunities that high school gives you to build friendships and social interactions.
Most of your older peers here followed a similar path of yoyo get busy then come back to it as an adult later on. It’s not goodbye it’s we will see you again
I first played in 1972. During a yo-yo boom. Threw mostly before school. Got out of the game, back in, in 2019. I have lots of hobbies. Ebbs and Flows. You’re young.
Don’t be ashamed of what you do with your “spare” time. Never, never let any one thing totally define you!
