I just discovered this forum and thought, hey, what a good way to get involved with the yoyo community! I’ve made two videos since I started throwing about 4 months ago so it’s nothing too special, but hoping for some constructive criticism etc. from you all. Enjoy the videos, and I look forward to getting more involved on this forum!
Well, first of all, welcome to the forum! Its a nice place.
I’ll talk about “Beach” first. It was very good, your tricks are nice, your flow is good. You were a little far away, and it would be nice if your string and your shirt contrasted more.
Now let’s move to “Study Break.” Two things about the intro: 1. It was REALLY long. I’d shorten it up, after all, the video is about yoyoing. 2. Y U NO SHARE YOUR CHINESE FOOD WITH ME?!?!?!?!
But seriously, you’re playing really well. Your style is working well, your tricks are at a level of complexity that I would never expect out of someone throwing for four months. You do tend to reuse the same elements a lot… don’t be afraid to try something uncomfortable, that’s what innovation is all about.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, after watching study break a few times I realized it was a very long intro, and that I probably should have shortened it. Won’t do anything like that in future videos. And lately I’ve been experimenting more with tricks outside of my comfort zone, so hopefully the next video will have lots of new elements! Thanks again!
Sorry, forgot to mention this one. Edit out your mistakes! Don’t be afraid to do multiple takes; you want to showcase your tricks in a way that makes them look the best.
