Steely Dan: the $5 dollar Dif-E-Yo

This is not so much a mod as it was an attempt to fix an accident. I bought a koncave in ealy december because I heard so much about how awesome it was in the X-Convict I was getting for christmas. It wasn’t, so I took it back out and threw it in the parts box. Later that month I came across my first modder fodder on ebay. Bought a Dif-E-Yo Bare Bones for 2.25 + approx $1.50 for shipping. The modder had drilled a 1/4" hole straight through the screw mounts and out the other side. So, I had 2 doornobs with peepholes. As an experiment, I went to the hardware store and bought about $50 cents worth of parts. specifically 1 1/4" steel bolt and 2 steel nylon lock nuts. I screwed one on about half way, then dropped the kk and doorknob on it till I had just enough room to get the other locknut on the other side. Them I used bolt cutters to cut the hex head off of the bolt. and filed it down to even out the weight. one of the holes that was drilled was not perfectly straight, so It would wobble badly if the bells were not turned to the right angle, hence the black sharpie marks to line it back up. It’s pretty heavy but works ok, and makes me feel closer to Michael J Fox to play with it. heres some pics and a short clip of it spinning (I was in a rush and threw a crappy sleeper so it’s not an endurance contest). Enjoy.  ::slight_smile:

and here is a short video of it “sleeping”

:stuck_out_tongue:

Nice!

Wow! That thing does vibe more than Micheal J. Fox!

Yeah, I thinking about taking the steel out and putting in an aluminum 2 end bolt with some smaller aluminum nuts. I’ll update if I find the stuff
