Had to make sure it existed before it’s wrapped up for Christmas
I’ve had this happen a few times, mostly with anoed Ti SE yoyos, what I do is set the half on a towel and use a wood dowel to push the SE out, the pop from this can be really loud.
@JDyo A towel is what I used as well for the side with an axle. The whole desk was flexing from my weight pushing on it, then POP, terrifying. Its definitely the receiving end thats the perpetrator, as different SE’s got stuck again until I fully wiped the taper with oil.
We think the anodizer had some difficulty with this colorway which resulted in an excess number of coats on certain halves. Aaron is super strict about QC and hand tunes each sudo, which involves rotating the side effects a number of times. He was able to do this without issue during assembly, but it’s possible that some may have become wedged after being screwed together for an extended period of time. He’s reaching out to everyone that bought a vaporwave colorway to remedy the situation for those having issues.
Wow, that copper one looks amazing with the clear spikes. Love the YWET homage as well. I probably should have snagged a bayshore route just in case orange is in the cards.
@DJReAxion mine had the opposite problem, but I understand the anodizer was different. The SEs are a looser fit than usual and I’m struggling to get mine tuned. I got a black one.
Hmm that’s interesting. The solids were straight up machined and anodized by One Drop to their specifications. The fitment and tunability should be on par with any other One Drop yoyo.
I generally don’t mess around with side effects too much, but I have noticed that you need to screw together the yo-yo pretty firmly to get them to sit right on some ODs.
My vaporwave Sudo just came in the mail today. The color looks even better in person than it did in the photos. My other Sudo has the OD 10 ball flat bearing so I was blown away by how much more stable this one is with the DS bearing. The Sudo is an absolutely phenomenal yoyo that deserves all of the hype.
I’ll try another tune when I have a chance. It may just be the side effects, I tried them in another yoyo and they introduced significant vibe there as well. I’ve had a set or two from recent runs that are more finicky and looser than usual.
Aaron messaged me offering a refund which won’t be necessary. I’m impressed with how attentive you guys are on the customer service end.
Love that they include a DS in these, it’s my favorite bearing!
I was waiting for the Sudo drop, had alarms set and life would make me the last person to pick up the last Sudo available. So I emailed Static Co. and I asked if B grades were available and there were some Vaporwave and Bape half swaps. So I thought I will unswap and have sold Blue and 2nd Emerald Green to throw… and one to gift that did not work out… so I switched them back and asked forgiveness. The hand tuning is the secret I am sure. Thank you for the extra effort Static Co.
The Mint Emerald Green is now the gift as repentance for disturbing the yo-yo force.
When back in the original configuration and dressed in some nice Yellow Flat Caps and some nice Blue Green Ultra Lights opposite half swap. The Sudo’s were pleased and at peace.
The B grades play very very nice.
Half swaps as solids did not work, I will wait for the next drop for some solids. This drops blue was so nice I would like another crack at it and a clear for sure. I will try to get what ever comes. Thank you Static Co.
They are just Sudo Smooth the way they came.
Dressed up a little, both halves, along with bothers and sisters.
Anyone know how many total Sudo’s exist out in the wild? (@DJReAxion?)
@SR1 I’ll get an exact answer from Aaron but if I had to make an educated guess it’s probably around 350-400.
The 1st run dropped in April/ May of 2019. I think there have been 4 to 5 runs.
@SR1 I guessed a little high haha. Aaron said there are about 320 sudos in existence. If you factor in some b-grades and the Static stash it’s probably closer to 300 in circulation.
Awesome, thanks dude! Was curious and figured it’d be interesting for others to know too
I want sudo now. Feeling fomo
Just wanted to report back to say that Aaron replaced the SEs for me and I now have a Sudo that is just about dead smooth. Very happy with how Static handled my situation.
Aaron is one of the best dudes in business. Period. Love that guy
Not sure if you guys saw on Instagram, but Aaron dug deep and cobbled together as many imperfect/deadstock sudos as he could. The majority of the imperfects are just ano flaws and still play beautifully. We’ll be releasing them this Thursday at 8pm EST. Obviously there’s not a lot of stock but here’s another chance to grab one!
