New top. A mini. Next to Imperial for scale.
I love the lime green and white color combo you’ve been printing with. Nice and high visibility.
I’m surprised I don’t see it brought up more but I’ve finally played enough to have calluses develop, so string burn is no longer an issue. Pulling the string tightly while winding just does such a number on my hands.
Thanks! I’ve been getting a bit tired of it and want to get some new colors, but I’ve been holding off so I don’t feel like I’m ordering new filament every other week
My next batch of filament I’m planning to buy will be the 95A hardness, same as the purple tops I’ve been printing. It has a little more give to it. It’s a bit of a pain to print since it doesn’t work with the Bambu AMS, and I have to stick to my low overhang designs, but I think I slightly prefer the end results.
Getting a lot closer to unlocking corkscrew, I’ve done it clean exactly once. I just sort of lose way too much spin from being too slow and lacking control during the setup (which is why I don’t go for three wraps here, knowing I already killed so much spin)
I guess I see why trompo players say this is easier on a bearing tip.
Very nice! It’s way harder with that top. Your sleeves might be interfering some too.
My sleeves are definitely an issue, I had a couple attempts where I got to the final swing around before popping the top back into my hand… except I ended up hitting the bottom of my sleeve and knocked the top out of the string.
This wardrobe error has been noted for future top sessions.
In keeping with the learning subject, mini bastón is a difficult trick for me physically. I understand how it works, how the regen aspect works, all that. But to actually get my hand in position is seemingly very difficult! So I got one here after the lazada. I’m pumped about it!
The Mexican style of play is brilliant when you can do so much without letting go of La cuerda. But it’s difficult to learn!
Wildly impressive!
Omg I am so close to getting this snap staring down!!!
…
That snap spin looks great. The top is so unstable when it’s spinning slowly, that’s the amazing thing to me with the people that can pull back a top that is about to fall off the string.
Top is a Quicksilver?
Yep. Ol faithful
New top is Quicksilver inspired.
I just discovered this thread (I should check this forum more often). Good job everybody climbing up the curve.
Something funny. I saw comments saying that some tricks are translated from Spanish as Fairies. This puzzled me at the beginning and then it hit me: Lazadas (lassos) sounds similar to Las hadas (Fairies).
Thank you! Auto translates strikes again😀
I think I will still call them fairies though, I like that.
That was a very solid looking Boomerang. I’ll get it one day. How do you like that current top so far? I like the look of it a lot. I love the size of the Quicksilver but man is it heavy.
I like it. It’s a hard shape to print and came out a little messy. I could soften the top (which prints on the bottom) and widen the crown. I have a second on the printer now. I’ve made the second heavier (the first is around 100g, the second will be around 110, which is closer to the Quicksilver), but I’ve tried to relocate weight towards the tip to lower the center of gravity. My second one I’m going to attempt to install a bearing tip.
I has occurred to me that if I printed my Quicksilver in two pieces and taped them together I would be honoring the spirit of the original…
I feel like I’m so close to getting this technique. I need to let it roll down the string more and swoop it up smoothly like a roller coaster in one motion.
….
Yeah I can’t do it so I don’t know why I am giving you advice, but, lift your th as high as you can while the top precesses as far as it can go and you still can pull it up like a sewing machine regen. Or learn that circular regen, but that’s hard too!
