Spin Dynamics ALTER EGO! Dan Dietz Signature!

Spin Dynamics has been designing high performance yo-yos in the USA since 2011. Founder Nick Gumlaw is constantly looking to create innovative new yo-yos designs and with the addition of new co-owner Dan Dietz to the team Spin Dynamics has a whole new level of focus! A focus that you can see and feel in their latest design, the new Dan Dietz signature model! The Alter Ego!

The American made Alter Ego has been put through the paces, prototype after prototype, by the one and only Dan Dietz! Dan has designed a few signature models in the past, but when he began to sketch and think about his latest signature yo-yo he had a new idea. An idea for a yo-yo with “multiple personalities.” A yo-yo that could fit any style and perform to any players standards. Fast or flowy, techy or slacky. That was the vision for the Alter Ego and after some rigorous testing they made that vision a reality!

This new design takes a few familiar elements from Dan’s past signature models and puts an entirely new spin on them. The stepped v-shape profile and meticulously placed weight distribution give this yo-yo a fast floaty feel on the string that is still incredibly stable and easy to control. It has a comfortable feel in the hand and with the large amount of focused rim weight, the Alter Ego offers a really powerful spin on the throw that will carry some serious momentum throughout your longest combos. And if you’re into grinds and fingerspins the unique cup design and smooth finish will blow you away!

We couldn’t be happier with this latest effort from Spin Dynamics! The Alter Ego is a full sized performance monster that offers professional and casual throwers alike the perfect yo-yo to fit their style!

Does this look a lot like a Prodigy to anyone else?

zorro is was designed by the same person and plays a little bit like a prodigy, but both of these yoyos are different beasts. Imagine the prodigy like 1,000 times better.

Absolutely. Designed by the same designer as a signature yoyo for the same player. “Let’s take the original idea of the Prodigy and up the game.” I doubt they’re allowed to call it the Prodigy 2, but that’s really what it is.

And I for one am very interested. Everybody who has played this thing has said that it is amazing.
