Soloham separation/one yoyo toss

ive been working on my soloham lately, and im able to do rolls and somersaults consistently. on thing i am struggling with though is doing a one yoyo toss to separate the yoyos. usually when i try, the yoyo doesnt leave the string and goes behind my hand instead of being tossed out in front of my hand. does anyone have any tips?

While I haven’t had a chance to work on this yet, I actually talked with Josiah Pulsifer about this at worlds last week and these were the two main tips he gave on this. First is to do a quick, strong pull up and pause at the top with only your non throwhand. 2nd, if I remember right, is that this should happen at the same time as the motion for a regular roll. That’s all I’ve got though as it’s still on my to-learn list, but if you need more help, try reaching out to Josiah or Sean de los Santos on Instagram or Discord and they could probably provide really solid advice. Hope this helps!
