Slippery silicone

So yeah… I spilled some RTV silicone on tile flooring(okay a lot of silicone) and wiped it off with a cloth…though in retrospect i think letting it dry and then taking it off would have been smarter. Now the portion of flooring that silicone came in contact with is slippery as hell…I didn’t realise till i slipped over it… while carrying my lunch…yeah…lots of mess to clean up. Anybody had any similar experiences or am I the only one foolish enough? What did you do to get rid of it??

Try scraping the area with a razor blade, there is some remaining residue. Then use straight white vinegar to wash the area. Acetic acid will cut silicone to a degree, vinegar is basically acetic acid. Follow with a good soap & water scrub so the floor doesn’t smell like pickles. If all else fails, use a scotch brite pad for the scrubbing.

This.

The first time I used it (years ago in autoshop) I think I got more on me than the gasket I was trying to seal.
