Do the dowels just press in snug enough to stay put or do you epoxy them?
I used to use school glue. Worked just fine. Not too much.
I will say I now vastly prefer to play the Butterfly with the metal axle. I have snappier throws and itâs OK that I do
I used a couple drops of super glue. It felt kind of snug without, but I think it wouldâve worked loose eventually.
I think I mightâve got lucky lol. I did two last night and they both turned out great. Much better than I expected. Had me almost wanting to do it to my maniax and glowfly, but Iâm afraid it was a fluke and Iâll mess them up
Did you drill through or just use a super short dowel in the cup under the starburst?
I just cut the dowel a tiny bit shorter, like maybe 1/16â, than the metal axle. Just held the axle next to the dowel and marked it with the saw.
I also didnât have a bench vice to get the axle out of the half that it stuck in. But, I do have some 325 parachord that was just thin enough to tie around the axle. Then I stepped on the long end of the paracord and pulled on the half that it was stuck in. Pop goes the weasel.
Full disclosure, I marred the first axle trying a thousand other ways first the second disassembly went off without a hitch though. Two pristine halves, one pristine axle.
You can use vice grips to get the axles out.
It was literally just now that I realized I should print myself a TPU grip for removing Butterfly axles so I donât damage them with a vice gripâŚ
