Sickburn Yo-Yo Workshop Ultem Fixie

Aluminum will be the cheapest, even with 7075 haha. The brass will probably be pretty close though.

Okay so if we went off of the assumed minimum order of 10 units then these would be the retail prices.

Demons Fun (anodized blue to blurple)- $225

Pocket Watch - $125

Tardy - $110

This is roughly my cost + taxes and fees + $20-25 to charity. Then if more were preordered than the 10 the amount raised would scale up as I would receive additional discounts from the shop on the order for quantity.

So with these prices in mind y’all welcome to change your vote if you need to since I know cost can be a factor.

I’m not sure I ever mentioned this but the Tardy is 7075-T6 which is a specific version of 7075 that has been heat treated, tempered, and aged to make it much stronger than vanilla 7075.

I’m not sure when most yoyo places release a 7075 if they are using T6 or base 7075 but figured it was worth mentioning the specifics.

Seems like a tough cookie. I would be fine with either the tardy or pw to be the first prod run. I’m happy with my tardy so I’ll probably skip it as I have one but the pw I would consider getting just for the polished look cause it’s glorious.

1 demons fun is all my budget will allow me lol

So far demons fun is my go to it’s just so good. Sure it’s slim and will do that tilt thing if you let it but it gives instant lock in on stalls. Only reason I love the demons fun so much is the finish it tickles my brain in just the right way. And because it’s ti its unbothered being in my pocket with my ti begleri

Yeah I also considered like dropping the price slightly, like an even $100 for the tardy. It would be less for the charity if only 10 people bought in but it might entice a few more folks which would end up net higher gains. Same for demons fun.

Also going to get a price for a larger production run of like 10, 25, and 50 units for the Demons Fun. If I can lower the cost significantly by full fronting it I will. If it doesn’t change the cost much I’ll leave things preorder.

Bad news on the Caramels though. The shop tried but they can’t reliably remachine these into two pieces so I’m probably going to be giving them away for free with a production Demons Fun with a warning that they are carpet babies.

Then some time in the future I’ll redesign them to be bearing based or take apart fixes.

Aw man. Sorry that sounds like such a time and money sink!

Bright side it’s a learning experience for all involved? The shop and Andy and the community? Idk trying to find silver lining

It’s only a time/money sink if you don’t learn anything from it

Jinx @Captrogers You beat me by 2 seconds

I was literally about to comment and say at least I learned a lot. Like I lost a few grand to the project but it’s like I paid a semester’s tuition to the school of yoyo design hard knocks :joy:

I have reached out to the original manufacturer of RCS Oh Canada string about ordering the same formula with Jeremy’s blessing.

We will see if it happens but I’m gonna try to revive it.

Once I get my regular no jive clone done and maybe the polycarbonate version, to make sure two different plastics hold up to the design, I’ll think about doing an Ultem version.
