Very excited. Wish molecular transporter was a thing.
May not be worth the hazards but I want yoyo now!![]()

These are subject to change in case I have to modify them but I thought it’s important to share them.
I’ve published drawings and 3d models for The G and for No Jive compatible hex hardware to my site. The G | Sickburn Yo-Yo Workshop
This way even beyond my project folks can make more and No Jives can continue to flourish.
Question for the void, or anyone here who might happen to know. Why are yo-yos always nickel plated and not chrome plated? My shop can do chrome plating at something like 0.002 mm thick so it’s probably not going to interfere with tolerances. I’ve never seen one chromed but lots of nickel.
Why do I feel like chrome was a 2000s era thing in yoyo. Idk chrome would be a finger print magnet but otherwise it would look cool
I know chrome has a tendency to peel
Nickel and copper plated yo-yos are often prized for the patina that develops, which chrome would resist(?) That would be my personal reason for preferring nickel over chrome.
It’s easy enough to bring an un-plated metal yo-yo to a shiny silver finish, so the chrome seems unnecessary from an aesthetic standpoint.
I think I remember reading (here?) that you’d have to nickel plate aluminum first anyway so that’s why no one goes further.
Yes chrome is two layers. The nickel adds the reflective shiny and the chrome is basically an anodization that protects it.
So does that mean that the .002 layer is on top of the nickel or including it?
On top of.
I checked their nickel plating. The full plating could be as thin as 0.005, 0.003 for the nickel so within reasonable tolerances for the overall part.
I guess I didn’t add anything to the conversation, but at least I understand better now.
Who needs to add something to the conversation?!
I think some people like the patina that nickel forms. Where as the chrome should protect it from oxidizing. Keeping it very shiny.
i like my metals to stay shiny so i support plating fwiw
IMO, yoyos are already hella futuristic, nobody needs to add chrome for that faux futuristic look

I think a shiny pretty polished chrome I think of old stainless steel appliances that get finger print smudges on them the moment you look at them funny.
OK, hear me out.
Why not both?
Chrome half, Nickel half. One side gets greasy fingerprints on it. The other side gets a nice patina over time.
