With the 30mm diameter at the current 53-54g range, it would most likely feel hard to maneuver and like a brick when throw. Though, you would definitely have to sacrifice a good bit of the already low spin time and stability to reduce this, so the tradeoff may not be worth it
Sounds great. My plan is to make them available on my shop for my cost for makers to use, but probably in like a pack so that I’m not selling 10 cents at a time or something lol.
The cost and tradeoffs of making a stupid tiny yoyo ![]()
Ideally I’m going to have it play stall forward so I’m hoping the curve of the 0a style opening throw helps offset some of the weight. ![]()
I appreciate the extra insight! This is probably why at least a dozen shops ghosted me after reviewing the design lol.
I haven’t seen these in years. Sugar Babies were amazing too.
All of those kind of candies destroy my teeth and would just remove a filling or whatever if I went for them
The no jive axles are currently stuck being held by customs as the description of “yo-yo axle” is apparently insufficient to describe them. Trying to figure out how to remedy this.
Sorry to hear that that didn’t jive with them, hoping it gets cleared up and all goes smooth
can you call them spacers?
They are probably trying to decide if they are an industrial part or a toy and can’t figure out what that means to them
Yeah so I used the HTS code 9503.90.0070. which classifies it as a toy accessory. They are probably staring at 100+ engineering grade parts labeled toy accessory and scratching their heads.
Just wait until those 10,000 pads are coming, lmao.
Oh no lol. The good news is my new shop is going to be sending everything “DDP Incoterms” which means that they are responsible for paying customs duties, ensuring customs is cleared for export and import, and carrying all risk of loss or issue. So even if customs causes issues I’ll have their team able to handle it all for me. Stuff I’m learning lately that’s fascinating.
If anyone is curious about the manufacturing process, the pads are being vacuum form molded rather than die cutting. Then they are applying adhesive and punching the middle out.
They sent me these after testing the mold.
This is averages from testing the first batch.
And this is a shore rating test to make sure they got that soft squish like some magenta landing pads.
Those are looking like they’re going to be fantastic!
I just heard about this ultem yo-yo and read through this thread.
I’m all in on this throw! ![]()
And that brass throw? Awesome.
Great things happening here!
(Fun fact: My favorite guitar picks are made out of ultem!)
The 3/4 spec Ultem blanks got delivered and they do indeed fit the deepest state and other side effect yo-yos. It narrows the gap and makes the deepest state a hair more responsive than the grease bucket.
I’m sick though so I’m not opening these up on the shop until I stop coughing and wheezing. Will let y’all know when I’m up for mailbox trips and post them for sale.
They sound like they’ll be incredible! Hope you feel better soon!
No worries probably easiest to wait for a few more things to arrive anyway. Feel better. I spent three weeks of being sick and am so over it
Awwwww yeah!
Hope you feel better soon though, we’ve got some creeping crud going around the house ourself. Womp womp. ![]()
