The Fat Pelican at Carolina Beach. I’ve gotta say… sitting in a bar with music blasting, a buzz, and brain damage is a bit weird.

Been five years since I had ice cream like this.

I had to look up nitrogen ice cream. Sounds really interesting.

Best in America, and my first job. I liked doing demonstrations if we didn’t have anyone waiting on their ice cream. I’d take a small steel pitcher, fill it with liquid nitrogen, and throw it on the floor. Customers loved watching the stuff skitter across the floor. The best part was after the pitcher was empty, it was still cold enough for the air inside it to turn into clouds. I’d walk over to a random patron and pour it on their head. It’s a very refreshing feeling

Was anyone here alive when silver certificates were still around?

I believe they were issued until 1964 so, I was. In the mid 70’s I would see the coins getting used every so often. Also would get paper currency from early 1930’s. Most folks didn’t really pay attention.

Cool looking collection you have. Does the back have Hawaii printed on it?

I saw them. I think maybe once I got some as change.

Nope, standard issue. As far as I know Hawaii overprint certificates also had a brown seal in addition to the “HAWAII” printed on both back and front

Layover at SLC airport. Discovered I wasn’t crazy when I heard chirping in the commons.

Pretty sure I heard some Barn Swallows too

Indulging the kids’ request for a quick trip to the playground before bed to try let them enjoy the last vapors of summer break. No good deed goes unpunished though, and now someone’s whining about it being too short. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, usually I think most yo-yos are pretty much the same for people at my skill level, but this is one that never felt that good. However, after dinging my Exit 8 on concrete last weekend, I’m cautious about what I use on sidewalks.
