Show some wooden yoyos you've made

I can see that… I am in awwwe of how you shape it. The Bloodcell is currently my favourite wood SW that I have thrown to date. Primarily because it is so comfortable in the hand and catch. That is also what I really like about the RBC.

I agree with this. I have a Survivalist, KNack and Bloodcell with 6-hole responses. Both the 4 and 6-holes work well, but the 6-hole is smoother on the response. It is my preference of the two.

Well I know he didn’t ask for suggestions and I know making them is not an enjoyable endeavor, but I felt inclined to share this beauty again.

I mean yeah this looks great Id like this😂. Like a wood grail. What wood is this?

It is purple heart. I’m no pro yoyoer but I just shot a quick video with it to a song that would honor it properly.

It regens so nice and really floats. Yes, it vibes. Not enough to where I care at all, but it is something that can’t be helped with wood.

So close…
I adjusted the CAM tool paths and will try again tomorrow.

I had a bad final tool path that grabbed the wood and made the piece slip out of the clamps.

Trial and Error.

How long is the Milling process per Half?

Are you planning to mill the other side?

Looks like a super fun project.

Tiger Maple on this one?

I’m surprised at how clean the router is leaving the wood. Routing is pretty aggressive usually more of a brute force scrape than a cut.

Currently it’s about 45 minutes for this face. I’d like to mill the other side, and that’s probably tonight’s project. I’ve got the file ready to go. This wood is curly maple :+1:

Yeah, the ball nose bit helps as well as the roughing + climb-cut finishing passes. It’s also not super fast (45 minutes for this face). I’m erring on the slow side for a better finish.

Super curious about how you re-zero once flipped. Been looking into CnC Mills/Routers for years.

My plan is to use a centering square to mark center. My programs start at the center of the model.

Way too wobbly, but at least it looks cool.
