We’ll see how this turns out tomorrow when it’s dry.
Still needs sanding and finish, but here’s the Lati butterfly with a legend wing for comparison.
The Lati weights 68g @adamantiumpops is going to be pumping iron with this one.
Oh my God it looks perfect!
I wish you could have seen me using calipers on the video you sent of the bitterfly to try to get the curve right. A real precise method to be sure .
Your yoyos look amazing. You’re making your own yoyos however you want them while most of us still feel guilty about our last yoyo purchase. I know the wood costs money and it takes a lot of time but still…you’re MAKING your own yoyos!
I have to say, it feels super rewarding. I’ve been lucky to get a lot of great tips from folks on here and learning from examining the awesome throws I’ve received from others.
Is it common practice to sand after assembly @Eric_Newlin? I would have thought it would be easier to sand while on the lathe. Just curious about your process. Thanks!
I initially started by sanding each half on the lathe, individually, before assembling.
When I got my Cole jaw chuck I changed to sanding after assembly because I could easily mount the assembled yoyo back in the lathe jaws.
This method helps makes the inlays more flush and lets me sand everything more evenly in my opinion.
On a related note, I started using the air compressor between sanding grits and that’s been super effective at avoiding packed pores/grain.
Finishing four different variations on my Mother T design. Thanks to @chaselawrence97 and others for the good feedback. @DocPop, I suspect at least one of these will be more up your alley.
Last yo-yos before I have to get ready for teaching and pause the yoyo-making for a while.
Can’t wait to see the new additions!!
Cool! Thanks for sharing. Also is that a maple with wenge inlays I see in the new set?
It certainly is
Exciting!
I ordered myself a series of custom marking templates to mark perfectly spaced response holes and taper lines. I may not be able to use them soon, but I’m still pumped. Plus, I got them for both 4 and 6 holes response and for various axle sizes.
Nice got yourself a good deal on those parts if they are through sendcutsend.
Yeah, they were super cheap, and since they had a minimum order amount, it made sense to order a variety of templates.
Maple mother t still for sale?
