Can anyone fill me in on what this term means? I was watching the promotional vid for MFD ape hangers when I heard about it. Cant believe I have gone 6 years without hearing about this…
String tension is how tightly wound your string is. When you throw an unresponsive yoyo, it tightens about 1/2 of a full turn each throw (is that right, somebody correct me if I am wrong). You can check your tension by throwing a trapeze, pinching the loop, taking the string out of the gap of the yoyo and create a slack loop. If it twirls together, you have bad string tension. To return it to neutral string tension, there are some tricks. Good string tension is when the slack loop does not twirl together and remains straight. Having good string tension helps with slack tricks immensely.
Brandon Vu put out a video on this. You could check it out.
I can’t believe you can survive for 6 years not knowing about it…
I’m a little surprised too.
I think he had to be dealing with it in his own way, but just didn’t have a name for it.
Maybe it’s called “time to change to a new string”.
Or maybe his tricks are neutral, cumulatively they don’t change the string tension at all, it’s actually possible to make tricks this way.
