Hey gang, sorry if this is the wrong category to ask this but what’s the usual restock/rerelease cadence for yoyos? I’m sure it also depends on manufacturer.
I want to grab a W1LD Wilderness but alas, they’re sold out on every site I can find.
Is it usually a yearly thing, one time ever thing, or what?
I am still pretty new and so i am not familiar with this stuff yet.
It depends on the company. All of YoYo is small business and even more so for boutique brands. Yye just buys a batch of whatever is being made and resells them.
Many brands do one and done runs or do a re run only when they have something to contribute or change that adds new value.
There are a few larger brands like Vosun, Yomega, Duncan and yoyo factory that either make massive bulk runs of thousands of units or continuously produce certain models and restock them but those are mostly geared toward beginners. The more advanced or specialized models usually are still small runs and don’t get big re runs too often.
There are a few Amazon specific brands like Watieoboo and the like that make a bunch of stuff and never appear to run out or end any lines but those are also much lower quality control over most boutique brands or even the older more corporatized brands.
You could reach out to the brand and ask. Usually Instagram is a good place to get in contact with folks or email the brands contact email if they list it. Most YoYo company owners are super responsive as this hobby is very niche and most brands are just one persons side hobby businesses (YoYo isn’t very profitable sadly) but customer service differentiates most YoYo brands from The larger YoYo factory and Duncan and magic YoYo options.
With the Wilderness, it is one of if not the signature/flagship yo-yo for them, so I expect there will be a restock coming at some point. Couldn’t tell you when though.
You can also try asking YYE if they have any near future plans to restock on insta/by email (not sure who the specific person to ask on the forums would be, maybe Eric)
ETA I called and spoke to Eric actually. What a pleasant person. He said there’s no specific ETA but it’s reasonable to expect a restock at some point.
I’ll keep my eyeballs peeled!
Double edit: holy smokes Eric called back, said they found one, they put it online, and I was able to order it. So cool!
