He was a bit gritty at time. Had some good stuff and some questionable…
A country star forever… didn’t he do some heavy time in a penitentiary before his musical career exploded!?
He is and has been my favorite for what 50 years…
Love David Allan
Yes, he spent some time in prison, but the stories vary.
Quite an eclectic folder of songs. You either love him or hate him.
Always loved the ride
Rip. I used to listen to him and Hank 3 all the time. Got some buddies who’ll be bummed to learn this. Hats off ole boy! ![]()

Is it a coincidence that my son was born on the same day or am I raising the next country outlaw? Also yall should check out his blues album Penitentiary Blues before he switched to country music. This guy was my whole childhood. He came through Lincoln a lot and Ive gotten to see him play like 3 times. Spoke to him once and the guy was a riot.
Congrats on the birth of your son, and good luck raising that country outlaw![]()
Thanks brother man!
my long hair can’t cover up my red neck
I hear you don’t want them to grow up to be cowboys… Not many left from that era these days.
I was raised by one of the last ones left, doing my best to carry that on.
