Iâd like to add ⌠there is a big difference in the way that we design throws compared to other companies. Also, we are located in Canada so we pay extra on duty/shipping costs for anodizing in the USA.
Iâve just decided that I canât have this argument with myself anymore. If I want to try some of these throws, I need to fork over the cash. Iâve been trying to get these guys to sell them for free, but they seem dead set against it. Very stubborn if you ask me.
I really wanted one, but I didnât have the cash. Will be waiting for next run and I hope theyâll come with some new and awesome colorways like the Rootbeer Blizzard or⌠Clareview Station!! OHHH MANNNNNNNNNN
Just the artwork alone makes this a great buy. The puffin box art is without a doubt the coolest thing I have ever gotten a âreturn topâ in. I bet its not cheap getting all the artwork done. Each yoyo has a unique design and special artwork created for it⌠IMHO its awesome. AND the guy behind the curtain designing these throws!!! That is SUCH artwork in itself. Not only to design great playing but great looking throws is something special. Great job Chris.
yes but can CLYW produce that many and would it flood the market so much to the point where no one will buy a new one when they can simply find 5 of a certain yoyo on the BSTs for much cheaper?
Clywâs price point, IMO, is an instrumental part of their brand identity and marketing. Put simply, a higher price tag usually indicates a premium product, and premium products command a level of enthusiasm that lower priced options donât.
Without the ability to produce thousands of throws at a time, this is a great strategy. That it only takes a few minutes or hours to sell through an entire run is probably the most crucial, since it means there is very little capital tied up in stock sitting on shelves. Clyw can always be making the next move and thanks to their rep thatâs at least partially due to this brand identity, we all watch intently.
I wanted to get one, but I didnât get home in time for the release, I have late classes and meetings on Thursdays and I didnât get back home until 11pm PST, they were long gone by then. So Iâm gonna wait until they do a 2nd run or possibly pick up some b-grades off their site if they have any.
I see CLYWâs pricing completely out of control. They mark up over 50%, and add extra money for colorways that cost no extra money to make. Believe me, if they wanted to keep costs low, they most likely could. Other companies do small runs, but they donât cost 160 shipped. Also, some of their stuff is made in the USA by One Drop, why are those not any cheaper? Weâre just suckers for buying their stuff.
