PSA on replies

i see this happen so frequently i thought it deserved a public blast. i constantly see ppl reply to a thread only to delete the message and create the exact same reply a second time because it didn’t have the pfp of the person being replied to in the top right corner. this is not necessary!! if your reply is directly under the person you are replying to, i.e. you are the first reply to them, it will not display the pfp. however, it still is a direct reply and the person being replied to will still receive the notification. the only part missing is the pfp display! hope this saves some ppl some extra typing and editing! :vulcan_salute::victory_hand:

See I did not know this because I’ve done this many times I’ll go to reply to somebody but I accidentally just do a regular reply and I’ll delete my message because you can’t edit your message like tag a person.

So I’ll delete it and then I’ll reply to them the right way, but it also leaves your deleted message in the thread which in my opinion if you delete something it should go away forever. It shouldn’t stick around.

The other thing I think needs work is let’s say you start a thread and you want to remove the whole thing right? Let’s say too. It doesn’t go the way you want it to. You should be able to remove your own thread instead of having to flag it and have somebody else remove it. I actually just did this with three of my threads that I started because I felt like I couldn’t express my opinion and I was getting hammered about it by some users. So instead of me being able to delete my whole thread that I started I had to flag them and then wait for them to be removed.

But that’s good to know about the reply thing cuz I’ve done it many times

you can actually edit a reply and add an @user tag anytime. i would say the one thing about deleting threads is sometimes there’s info in threads that would be better not to be lost on the whim of the original poster. certainly not true for all or maybe even most threads, but that’s just the first thing that popped in my head

True, it’s worth considering you could always request a lock instead of full deletion, but I know what you are referring to Edwin, you for sure got piled on a bit, the frustration was palpable from both ends lol.
