Premium Feel On A Budget - What’s your go to?

I love me some good spins on a floaty yo-yo. I decided to try my luck by throwing this flat ceramic bearing from Amazon onto a Luftverk Plastic Peak. I’m a 5a thrower so I have a custom counterweight tied w a Zipline Prestige string that I was gifted. This is feeling really nice to throw. Its bearing is letting this plastic fly. The string has a great soft feel to it while allowing this floaty yo-yo to whip at any moment if you want it. Pretty cheap throw here with some fun and solid feels.

Do you have a “cheaper” setup that still feels premium?

Several years ago, I bought a cheap freehand next Gen while waiting for a friend who was visiting a psychic palm reader. It was my first 5A throw, and for some reason this 20$ yoyo feels amazing, fluid, and stable despite the fact that it vibes like crazy from all the times I’ve dropped it on concrete (and I even once nearly lost it through the bars of a condemned building and dragged it out by the counter weight with a stick).

Felt extra good when I put a thick whipping string on it.

I have a strange feeling that if I bought another one it wouldn’t feel as good. I’m probably wrong. It’s a special throw and I prefer it to almost every single unresponsive I own.

I’ve been blessed with a freehand myself as a gift. They are great for a budget!! I always have a yo-yo on me, but I honestly feel like I was in a pinch I’d be on the hunt for a freehand to purchase too. If you ever get to play a peakhand, I totally recommend that as well.

Dressel Monsoon is like $40 or something? It is as smooth and quiet as any >$150 throw I have and a great choice for an oversized.

That’s fun, I actually have a couple DD throws. I’ll have to try and snag one of these. Thanks for the rec.

I never see it mentioned but I loved the Big Dipper by CLYW
