Plastic Peak CLYWxLuftverk

I’ll start experimenting until I find the perfect nipple.

There is a diagram in the Plastic Fulvia blog post that suggests that there is enough material to form a nipple, but also some discussion of why it might detract from performance.

But I’ve never played any Peak — maybe more weight in this area would enhance the comparison(?)

Yeah this image makes me think it might not have the nipple

Hence the question

I also wonder if forming a nipple would cause manufacturing/QC headaches (like having them break off).

Obviously I am only speculating, but all the clues so far seem to indicate that this is a Peak from a performance perspective, rather than aesthetic.

I bet they added a nipple post (probably a bit smaller size) for sure since I can see there’s a extra space for machining from the inner cup as seen on the pic below.

I agree there’s definitely material there to have something. I feel that there isn’t enough for a full sized nipple either. Super curious to see how this thing looks!

I love nipples💋

I believe a simple solution would be to design a mold with more material in the cup. I bet the form for the mold is adjustable to allow for placement of enough material to do the nipple.

I could be wrong, it has happened in the past.

Here we go again!
Usually I can get one 1-2 months after everyone else, so see you in 2 months.

You sold me at “And here we are”.

The problem with this is the nipple does nothing to the structural integrity and also reduce the performance, I doubt it will be done this way but we’ll see.

What a crappy excuse.

The problem with this thought is that the Peak has a nipple.

We can even start a chant.

no nipple no peak!

No nipppe no peak!

I just hope for a white with the blue mountain ridge colorway of this. I’m dreaming, im praying, it would look so good.

I join the chant:
"NO NIPPLE NO PEAK!"

We can rename the thread “nipplegate”…

my opinion is that it would not be a Plastic Peak but a “Plastic Something”. If it were to have a flat hub or one that was different from the one it has always had, I most likely wouldn’t take it
A plastic Peak I would like it… a yoyo that vaguely resembles it, no.

p.s. In addition to the hubs and the shape, the Peak is also characterized by the gentle depression of the inside cup from where the hub itself rises … that is a further aesthetic element that cannot be missing

Well… here is my uneventful 2 cents on this matter>

I think Fabrizios opinion sounds perfectly reasonable and logical. He dates back to the Original Peak, so he certainly understands ‘Peaks’.

My view is somewhat more progressive.

Nobody really knows more about what makes a Peak a Peak than Chris and Steve. They know and understand Peaks from every angle.

So .now… here they both are, working with another Mastermind/ Jeffrey Pang.

The 3 are/were not trying to ‘reincarnate’ the Original Peak. If they were, they would have used metal for this new offering.

And actually, the Original Peak was not the best playing Peak ever made anyways, lol.

They used the ‘Peak, as a design from the past’ and their mission was to build a Plastic Peak with the soul of a Peak, but also incorporating a few improved performance tweaks that are the logical progression of ‘learn by doing’.

The catch of course is building the new hot rod out of plastic.

To me, the bottom line is simple> Their intentions were/are, to: offer a yo-yo based on the Legendary Peak, out of a more economical material, at a much lower buy in price, that can take a licking and keep on ticking while carrying on the Peak name.

To meet the newer performance parameters, it is possible the new Peak may not visually match the old Peak like a twin.

But, taking everything into consideration., If the 3 Masterminds decided that ‘it’s going to be called a Peak’, then a Peak it is.

When I get mine in the mail, if it plays really good to me, that is more important than the name they decided to ‘tag it with’.
