Plasm by MK1YoYos x Spinworthy YoYos! - Available Friday 05/16 - 7pm ET!

It’s in a state of quantum superstate that defies all current laws of physics and quantum mechanics known as spationary

It was spinning at low speed, my phone was in portrait mode, it was mostly accidental lol, I was totally going for a shot similar to what came out, but I was surprised how good it looked lol.

I generally throw a wrist mount and take a shot in photo mode with the 35mm lens selected. This time was a trapeze, passed it over to TH and as I was trying to take the shot it went into portrait and out came an art

So it actually wasn’t an illusion or is it technically speaking :exploding_head:
Really great work and a stunning piece of photo effect art as a reward.

I cannot say enough great things about the Plasm. It is the best plastic responsive I have EVER played with by a WIDE, WIDE margin. So good.

They are making more! I offered to subsidize another run after that, too.

Help me fall in love with my Plasm again.

  1. Can it 1A okay or is it stuck in the MR / 0A range?

  2. What strings is everyone using?

BACKGROUND: I carry both an UR and a Responsive yoyo daily. I prefer a plastic Responsive to not have to worry about Venues/Metal Detectors/etc. Currently I’m carrying my FH1 but prefer the Weekender (though it’s metal) for the FS - fidget aspect. This is where the Plasm would merge the two - if I feel like I could throw it “longer spinning”.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Are you all just carrying it for MR / 0A or is anyone rocking it as an all around MR and 1A Responsive Yoyo?

It can 1a if you put a lemon bearing and a wider axle in. It’s challenging, but fun. That’s not really it what it’s for tho There are so many other 1a slimline options, and the plasm is an incredible responsive/ 0a machine

Lemon Bearing? That’s interesting. Yeah - for MR/0A it’s great for sure. Just looking for that responsive jack of all trades - in a plastic.

If you can do a lot of more difficult 1A tricks on the fh1, the plasm will give you a run for your money. Any extra layers will punish you. I use Sochi colin beckford string and OD bulk in mine, which is on the thinner side. I’ve used a lemon bearing in mine, and my hot take is I like it more than the flying lemon.

Where do I get a Lemon Bearing if I don’t have a Flying Lemon?

Oh I’m sorry I was thinking you wanted 1a unresponsive, my mistake!

Perhaps you could commission a very slightly wider mr85 blank to open the gap slightly to handle string layers.

Overall tho, this feels like modifying a loafer to play basketball.
What tricks are you trying to do that the plasm falls short on? Could that be better handled by a different throw? Could you find a different trick set to tackle with the plasm as is?

Honestly I think the only “mods” a plasm requires is deburring the guts so it doesn’t shred string.

I had a batch made from the same factory Glen used and haven’t made anything with them yet (fighting them trying to make a 3d printed unresponsive got tiring) I can hook you up with one.

Sounds like there’s confusion. I thought they were saying the Lemon Bearing made it a slightly wider responsive - but sounds like it’s making it unresponsive - which is not what I want. :person_shrugging:

I think I just need to carry it again for a few days and see where I feel it’s lacking over my FH1 I’ve been carrying.

Take the bearing that’s in your Plasm right now and soak it in mineral spirits for a bit then in alcohol to clean the mineral spirits off so that the bearing is clean, dry, and free of lube and it will 1a just fine.

Now to find me some mineral spirits. Thanks!

Mineral spirits or kerosene just something petroleum followed by alcohol.

Correct me if I’m wrong @Slestak75 , but 100% acetone (not the nail polish remover, because that’s got some extra stuff in it) would also work in a pinch
