Plasm by MK1YoYos x Spinworthy YoYos! - Available Friday 05/16 - 7pm ET!

Acetone melts PC so be extremely careful to make sure it’s 100% dried, and that you don’t splash it on the yoyo

Absolutely you could replace the alcohol with acetone, however the petroleum based solvents break down greases that alcohol and acetone won’t touch. Then the alc/ace cleans the petro off along with everything it gathered up and evaporates quickly to a clean surface.

Interesting, I had my order of operations flipped. That might explain why my very, VERY responsive M1K Path was still responsive even after an acetone bath

Side Note: Kinda annoyed that most all of the fluids needed to clean bearings are some of the most abrasive, foul smelling fluids in commercial existence

I tried them all but now I use dawn dish soap and water, cleanest bearings of my life.

I hate the smell of Dawn, but if it’ll clean my bearings and not smell foul or require special disposal care, I’m down. Thank you for the tip!

I just put them on the end of a paintbrush and scrub the soap in with a toothbrush/dish brush, then dry and blow the air out with a datavac but you use canned air or you can air dry them. Or put it in a washcloth and use centrifugal force to dry it, which does work but it’s kind of annoying.

This is interesting - can you share more details? do you soak in Dawn/Water or scrub with fingers/dawn and rinse? How do you dry them?

EDIT: I see you gave more details above - hadn’t read down that far when I Replied.

No soaking, I just spin the soap in/scrub until it feels like there aren’t any particles in there.

This too.

If you put lube in that wide mr85 bearing it’ll be responsive but not sure how it would play,

Make sure to dry your bearings I’ve rusted bearings I washed in soap and water and then stored wet on accident

Desiccant in the bearing storage spot is a good way to solve this btw

I pulled off Kwjybo on a stock Plasm, it wasn’t easy, but it is doable. I only really use mine for 0A though

Never thought to use mineral spirits then acetone but that makes senses. I’ve always just used acetone
