IT LIVES!!!
1/4” walnut axle. Smaller diameter axle gives more room for the string on the return which seems to help with stalls. Sanded and burnished the worst of the damage away with 220-320-steel brush on dremmel. Left the 80 grit sanded finish on the walls from the broken axel removal process. Filled the dimple with epoxy when I glued it up. Response is perfect now, but there is some vibe as my drill holes weren’t perfect and one half was cracked nearly all the way thru from the “drive by” it received, but it still plays great. Video of it in action below. I’m gonna keep it in the pocket for a bit then send it back to @AudreySickburn to try first.
