Yeah, there are 3 “generations” of the Confusion from what I now have on hand?
Mostly they seem to have reduced center weight a fair bit with each iteration, it’s measurable on the scale.. my yellow-black TB homage is the latest. I’ll run the numbers and find a topic to post that in and then ping Hans later.

I just recently got a Turbo Confusion with the cork brake pads and I really wished they had done the black and gold coloring like what you have there, but I am not complaining, it plays like a dream, and it’s always possible they will still make that color way available to the public someday.

I dig the Turbo Confusions width as is, the GT would be a little wide for me but if it means more cork throws, I’d like to see it too, and I am positive their would be an audience

All of this sounds amazing to me. I have also the first iteration of Confusion with no Hubstack capabilities.
It’s lighter than the HS version which I like, but I feel like the new Brake Pad version is going to be the best player of them all. One day I will have one.
I’m looking forward to your impressions. Glad they made it safe. Enjoy.

Just a quick update on this PIF. @codinghorror made a new box with some great decorations as well as some very nice additions to the box. He sent it back to me and I am getting everything ready to go and will have it back on the go as soon as I can. Recent medical stuff has me moving very slow and it might be a bit but I am on it. When this goes back up I’m going to institute a new rule. “Going 3 times” as it seemed interest might be slowing down… if the PIF goes up and we get to “going 3 times” then the PIF will be open to those who want a second go. I know some had expressed an interest in going again… well now you can. Think of it as my evil plan to keep you all baited in. Be patient with me and I’ll get things right and get a proper post up.

Alright. I truly apologize for the long delay. It was a rough start to the year. Now… I’ve almost completed modding the Bi-Metal Bumblebee, so my next and last task is something I need opinions on. Up till now I had a Snack in there modded with a narrow bearing to make it responsive. This was not because I felt like the Snack made the most amazing responsive… it was just to provide an example of an unresponsive yo-yo made to be responsive. My question is this: do we want to keep that (most were pretty meh about it), get rid of it, or replace it with something different? I don’t have much I’d be willing to send off this way. A Magic Yo-yo V3 ; wouldn’t really be modded as it came with switchable bearings but it does well at plowing through some pretty intricate 1a style tricks and still comes back with a tug. Maybe a Kamuraiju… maybe. I’ve been thinking that I would love to try my Slap Jr this way but I wouldn’t be wanting to PIF it. 
So any opinions on this?

Maybe just grease up a standard sized flat C with your special sauce and put it in a baggie so that they can try it out in some of their personal favorite throws?

Absolutely. I could do that. That’s actually a good idea. I went ahead and found a nice narrow bearing to work perfectly in the V3 MYY. I’m going to send that out. Much more stable and powerful than the Snack. Beware… that sucker will hurt you if you’re not careful. All of them hold that potential actually.

Aaaaaaalrighty then!!! I finally have this packed up and ready to go. I apologize for the long delay. I’m not totally “blaming” the Chronic Heart Failure that put me in the hospital in January…. But it did take some starch out of me.
Our good friend @codinghorror was the last to have this and he graciously added to the spoils. A Deepest State in beautiful gold, and a black and gold 3rd gen Confusion. This is the one that is modified in shape and weight but still has the original thick “A” pads. Not the 4th gen cork. I have modified the Deepest State to run a dry narrow C bearing. Be careful, it’s a tad heavy to move as fast as it does with this mod. Both Confusions are tuned in their stock configuration and not modified. They play great.
Our friend Mr. Atwood also made a new box for us, put every yo-yo in a nice pouch, and even decorated the inside of the box. Do take some time to check it out… I got a chuckle out of it. I will not spoil the opening experience by posting pictures but of course whoever gets it first can feel free to post your pics.
I’m going to be doing this differently moving forward as I have seen how much less trouble for me, and frustration for you that using a list produces.
So we will be using a list for the participants and here are…… THE RULES:
First rule… please read the rules.
If you have less than a year on the forum I will need to approve you for this. If you have feedback please provide that. Each participant will have 2 weeks with the package. Please DO NOT disassemble these as the bearings are hand picked per throw as part of the tuning. You are responsible for paying the shipping to the next participant and making sure the package moves on in a timely manner. Please honestly evaluate whether this will be troublesome for you as this is all that I’m asking and I don’t feel like it’s that much. If you have tried this Play it Forward in the past and wish to give it another go that is fine, just be aware that those who have not tried will be given priority. If you made it this far then please acknowledge that you’ve read and agree to the rules and we will get you on the list. So……. WHO WANTS IT??!!

Here’s a list of the spoils as I didn’t get picks. 
Deep State, Deeper State, Deepest State. 2nd & 3rd gen Confusions, Bi-metal Bumblebee, the Snack was replaced with a Magic Yo-yo V3 with narrow bearing. It plays muck nicer than the Snack, 7YO, and @MinerJ Honeycomb. I think that’s it. There are some Stay Gold pins while they last. If there is more you will see but I’m sure that’s it.

I’m down, if I’m eligible. Haven’t been around for a full year yet, or have feedback… But I guess I’m fairly solid. Been at the same job for 5 years now! Yo yoed since childhood off and on. Working on Cold Fusion at the moment. Wouldn’t mind trying it with a modern hot rod!

Also the Confusion with cork pads isn’t really a V4; it’s completely identical to the V3 except instead of the now-standard circular silicone response pads it has the classic cork starburst shaped pads.
They play identically, I’d say cork is a tiny bit more responsive overall but it is a very, very subtle thing. I think the standard silicone pads are a better long term choice because they are the standard. I would not stress at all whether you’ve played a Confusion v3 or “v4”. It’s just a response pad design choice on an otherwise identical yo-yo.
(And I still say the Confusion is the best small bearing responsive yo-yo design ever made, it’s basically perfect.. and the Deepest State is the best standard bearing responsive yo-yo, but I am biased, obviously 
)
