One throw for 12 days

Going for a 12 day hike on the Appalachian Trail. Can’t decide on what throw to take. Only have room for one.

If you had every model of One Drop and most of the TMBRs which one would you take and why?

Happy yoyo!

Wow. Seriously? Just one? You can make room for a few more.?!? Id have to take at least one unresponsive and one fixed… i guess maybe something like the Weekender so you get a bit of both worlds. Eff that i wouldn’t go.

OD M1.
First thing that came to mind. Small-ish still with good performance.

Or a WoodZ, same reasons.

Personally, I’d pick one that’s already dinged up, as damage seems likely on the trail.

One of the guys from my yo-yo club just returned from a thru-hike!
He actually had to wade thru portions of the trail due to unseasonable heavy rains and flooding. I don’t know what You should take, but it needs to be durable… maybe expendable, possibly edible.
Hope you have a great experience.

Bring a 100% ceramic bearing so you can clean it with water

Parlay all day. Compact and always fun and could use poly so you don’t need many strings

Panorama. Sized well enough to keep comfortably in my pocket, and can handle every trick I have. Can swap out SE’s for different feels. Also since it’s probably the throw I pick up most nowdays anyways, and because it’s one of my all time favorites, it’s a no brainer. Definitely a “desert island” throw for me.

You are gonna want something you aren’t gonna be upset if you ruin. Its gonna be in your backpack or wherever you are gonna be outside throwing on rocky ground. Bring something that if you get a ding isn’t gonna bring you down

Be careful out there man, I live in western N.C and there are some seriously sketchy parts of the trail if you wanna do the full thing. Have fun! and I would bring a light organic monometal, and a one peice fixie

Toss up between the Panorama and a 2014 Tmbr eH.

Seconded. I’ve done this in the past. (Not 12 days but a couple)

I would take something inexpensive and easily replaced. I know you mentioned One Drops and TMBRs, but, I would probably bring along a Replay Pro

Just talked to my friend who spent months on the Trail, he said he took an onomatopoeia with a full ceramic bearing and spare strings in a waterproof baggie.

Awesome! I used to hike the AT north from the southern terminus at Amicalola Falls in north Georgia. Gods Country!

Where are you hiking?

Whatever you decide to select from your collection……just make sure you take plenty of strings……for high humidity & glove for moisture too!

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone!

I couldn’t do just one!

I ended up going with an oak PockEHt in the pocket and an SK in the pack! Gonna take 2 full nylon Airetic regs, 3 type 10 YYE cotton strings and an extra bearing.

The oak PockEHt is my go to “woods” fixie since its material, feel, and play scream nature.

The SK is already scratched, a moderate size, has amazing blast for a humid environment , fun fingerspins, challenging but fun for horizontal, just an outstanding “all around” yoyo.

Hit the trail Friday to do 90 miles North of Hot Springs, NC

Happy trails and happy yoyo everybody!

I take my beat up smashing float bikepacking and a home made fixed axle backpacking. For some reason bearings seem wrong when I’m on foot instead of bike
