One Drop YoYos Official News

I’m not on the email list, but agree with you if this is indeed a reference to the author. I sort of thought it was a reference to the Joker? Weren’t his colors purple and green?

I’d be much happier if this were the case.

I, too, thought J.K. was a nod to the Joker due to the colors. :person_shrugging:

I had also just thought the Joker thing…

Guys omg lmaooo this is so 2023 :rofl:

First is J.K RoWling the author but then the yoyo has the same colours that the Joker from Batman (one of the most iconic villains ever) has from more or less the 40s or the 50s, probably is a quote to Joker than :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
This time was a no brainer my friends, idk how it was possible to confuse it

“Dropping Tomorrow! - J.K. Still Rollin.”

J.K. Rowling / J.K Rollin - close enough.

Wanna avoid confusion? Don’t use the J.K., which is much easier to confuse with Rowling than the Joker.

How often has DC used J.K. to refer to the Joker? Wouldn’t ‘Mista J’ of just ‘Joker’ be more identifiable? Hell, even “Puddin” would have been a better reference.

Mate Still Rollin is the name of the yoyo
J.K. (colourway) still rollin (yoyo)
Pretty sure they even havent thought about it as the colourway it immediately make you think about the Joker and not about Harry potter.

I mean check the comments on Instagram people even thought about the Evangelion - Eva01 (which was also my thinking before see the description there)

Also who in this world would dedicate a colourway to a writer (not even that important compared to other), about her awful ideas, I totally agree with you on this without any doubt

I mean, calling the colorway Eva01 would have bee MUCH more rad.

Completely agree on this, not sure if someone at One Drop know Evangelion.

Sorry for the off topic:

C3 did that long time ago they did the whole Eva serie it was sick, wish I was able to find them for sell, so cool

j.k. are initials for J. Kerr which is an alias of the joker so this seems like a reasonable choice for the name of the colorway. The yoyo is a signature release for a female player if im not mistaken and she might have some insight too.

While your heart is in the right place, this post is the most bizarre and crazy critique we’ve had in 16 years of making yo-yos. You win! I woke up this morning and saw a notification for this post in my email and I just couldn’t believe that I would have to go in to work and have to spend time on this. I think I had a momementary business existential crisis but then I recovered.

For the record, the Still Rollin is a signature for Talia Jamison who is LGBTQ. And we think JK Rowling is a bigot.

Can we focus on how cool the yoyo and the finish now?

Probably not. You triggered them and now they are a comin’ for ya. The harmless intent is meaningless if it still manages to offend someone. You might want to seriously consider changing the name of the colorway if you don’t want to get buried by cancel culture.

You think it wasn’t done on purpose. No matter what they say it clearly was to inflame and promote their product through inflaming people - which really just bums me out they would do that

You are correct, I think it was not done on purpose. It would be entirely out of character for One Drop to “inflame” and upset its customer base on purpose. I give them the benefit of the doubt here because it seems utterly bizarre to me to do otherwise.

I’d love to agree because it does seem outta character for sure. But I mean…. You adjust like two letters and it’s her actual name

No you don’t add one letter. There’s a whole word in there “Still” that you are conveniently ignoring. You’re joking right??

Joe Kerr was the Joker’s name before he fell in the acid. I’m fairly sure that’s canon. I’m sure it’s just a reference to that and even if it seems close to J.K. Rowling the color way imo doesn’t reference the author or Harry Potter universe and obviously is the classic joker colors so to me it seems pretty obvious there was no intentional reference to the transphobic author of Harry Potter.
