I can’t believe Greg took a random bit of my smack talk and made it into this. Awesome!
Another set of 10 strings and a counterweight generously donated by andy569!! Prizes all around for both divisions!
Woot!
This thread has a pretty good following I wanna see what you guys can do!!
I’m 32…is that old enough to compete?
Darn tootin’. I think our youngest is 26 right now. It’s all about if you feel you are one of the creaky so-and-sos or not. (you don’t literally have to be creaky. )
This thread is so inspiring, I think I might be able to work up the nerve to video my best (which is still lame😁) attempt. Just to finally do it. Soon as this Sciatica stops acting up😏
Vic. Man. My sciatica is KILLER! Hope yours isn’t too brutal. I found a short yoga routine that helps a little bit. TENS unit also gives (very temporary) relief. Nothing that’s changed my life yet, though.
When it gives you a break, do it up! I’m thinking of recording my video sooner rather than later so that I can start receiving more videos with any worries.

Thanks Greg, I’ve got a few herniated discs, it’s a grind lol. But im thinking acupuncture next. Thanks for the encouragement. Haha grumble groan I love to YoYo! It’s the best medicine!
I’m in for the more experienced category - just uploaded my entry and will email the link to Greg shortly…
I think this is such a fantastic initiative and I am so happy that this thread is getting all the attention it so richly deserves - most exciting thing to happen to this yoyo community since, since…heck, my memory’s just gone all fuzzy.
For the record - my right knee is very achy right now… old skating accident from when I was 15 (a NUMBER of years ago…). Always gets creaky in cool wet weather.
So excited to see all the videos from all the “newbies” as well as the more experienced players!
lol we should be able to factor in our injuries as a handicap. I’ve got a Titanium knee and wires holding my shoulders in place. :o
Wow sweet about the donations for prizes. Working on a video for you guys.
All I got is 30 sec so far. Ill try to get a full minute, but stringing stuff together is tougher than I thought. Also, I dont think the iPhone is optimal for this stuff. Someone else mentioned getting an iPhone tripod?! Haha, me too. Oh well, this’ll be fun no matter what…
Yes, its on its way… (Iphone tripod)
If you don’t have a full minute, it doesn’t matter. With skills, smoothness, and tricks being totally equal, a slightly longer video MIGHT have an edge… hard to say… but certainly an impressive 30 seconds will still be a contender!
You can also do multiple throws. It’s not giving away any of my secrets to admit I’m going to be doing a sidestyle combo and a frontstyle combo in two separate throws. I can’t regen well enough to transition without a throw.
Oh wow, I thought you were kidding, but I guess they do make em.
Greg, you’re right – quality over quantity.
Asked privately, shared publicly:
“Does the battle video have to be under a minute or just the throwing part.”
You guys know how strict I am about this whole thing, so I’m going to go for a definitive and very strict answer here:
Ehhh… let’s say just the throwing part, but with the understanding that nobody’s going to go nutty with several minutes of intro and outtro. Your video’s a minute-twenty but twenty seconds are adding a bit of something funny or interesting at the beginning or the end? Good enough for me!
My own video will come in pretty darned close to the 1 minute mark, give or take a few seconds.
People want more time? I have already been looking into putting a commercial into the middle of mine just to fill the minute.
Great ad, yooldman. My favorite part is when he touts the four colors while they show a b/w shot.
My vid is only 50 seconds, guys, if that makes you feel better. And that includes me binding to get ready and walking up to the camera to turn it off. This is my very first time recording myself too. I probably should have found a better place than my kitchen.
I was kinda shocked they made them also
Alrighty. I’ve got my combo locked in, and it’s just a matter of finding time for an old guy to throw.
Mainly bumping because I updated the title; should have done that ages ago!
