Darn I missed this… Anyways … pretty awesome guys!!!
Could always throw an old or new video into the Showcase.
Yes, a minute seemed very reasonable until I tried to film it.
I have put up a couple of other videos, just for fun. I also took part in the Fixed-axle Feb contest.
This is my first contest, though I have done a few videos before…
Ha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought “I can do a minute. No problem”. A month later and hours of shooting, I got a minute. No problem.
This was my first video and first competition too.
I’m just glad no yoyos or yoyoers were harmed during the filming of this video.
This was my first real video. That is unless a couple one-handed 15 sec Instagram ones count, haha.
Thanks to the involvement of Greg and other familiar forum members, I knew I had to participate. A fine crew!
Since this is the first time putting my yoyoing out there it was motivating to finish a combo in progress and finally put something proper together. That was really rewarding in and of itself.
I agree totally!! I have competed in all of the local contests in the Sport 1A division since I started back in August of 2010. That’s three NER’s, two MA States, one RI States and at the NH Club Anniversary. Every time I compete is a blast.
This was my first actual yoyo video… And it was a PITA to film… That said it was a blast as well. I have to thank Nick Gumlaw for the filming and my constant mess ups!!!
Anybody who has entered a video (for competition or showcase) thus far is welcome to send me their address to collect their participation bribe. The address will be shared with Unknown Strings and other prize donors unless otherwise stated; seems to make sense to have them sent directly to you than to come to me as a middle-man first.
A little bit less than a day for voting!
On that note, Vegabomb has offered to expose the results prior to the forum’s imposed 3:25am time slot. Results should be available sometime shortly after 7pm, once I’ve had a chance to lock votes, contact Vegabomb, and give him some time to get to a handy number-crunching machine in order to override the forum’s timer.
Thirty five minutes left to vote. Hop on over to the “video” board and vote if you haven’t already.
Vote!
I have no real internet, so I’ll be brief for now!
I’m very pleased that people saw fit to vote me into a tie situation with bpg! Pleased but surprised… it was really exciting to see the result!
Big congrats to beezy! Now you need to teach us some of that stuff.
Hate typing on a phone. Too many other things to say…
I sincerely think everyone who contributed a video did an amazing thing. No matter how the community voted, in the end I guarantee based on all the PMs and comments in the related threads that every single video was appreciated… People watched and enjoyed them all, and we got to share our lurrve of yoyo. Awesome job, all!
Now to get some real internet.
Just a notice that I’m on vacation for a week and a bit, starting tomorrow. Consequently, there might be a bit of a delay for your strings to be sent out unless I get addresses today sometime. I’m sure none of you mind.
Going camping. Bringing yoyos. Wonder if any of the other campers will be interested in learning anything!
Got my string yesterday. Just threw one on my Rally and am loving it!!! Very well made stuff!!!

Got mine today. First throws? Feels great.
Tom Kuhn Optic Star showed up today, too. Thought this might be of interest to the old crowd.
I’m bumping this thread, because, well… I came 2nd place in Division 2, which means I won one of these handy dandy yoyo holder things made by thehandcoder:
On a different topic, I’m willing to add to the prize pool. I’ll make a yoyo holster for the winner in each division. I don’t have a ton of colors, but I’ll let the winners pick style and colors from the cord I do have. Here’s the basic styles of the holster.
First off - I’ve never been impressed with yoyo straps, somehow they’ve always seemed lacking in some regard (especially the ones that rely on gravity to hold the strap closed).
Anyway, straight after the contest ended, thehandcoder dropped me a PM. He gave me a choice of a bunch of different colours and a couple of different stylings (different braiding techniques).
I told him what I wanted, and sure enough, he had it in the post a couple days later. I’m really pleased at how my colour choice looks on this Speed Freak:

Now, the braiding on this thing is nice and snug, as good as any other - but what I am really impressed with is the overall design. If you look closely, you will see that he braids two little paracord sliders, and these things make all the difference. They slide easily, but are still grippy enough to not slide on their own, they hold the yoyo snugly in place. If you look at the picture below, notice the red and purple braided “ball” sliders:

I’ve never really liked straps before - but I would be happy to pay for this, and if they popped up on the BST, I would certainly have no problem recommending them!
Thank you!
Great-looking holder!
With my own Unknown Strings arriving yesterday, I believe all the participation and winning strings have been sent out as well. Big thanks to modman10 (http://yoyoexpert.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=14216) for providing the donations he provided and for being so helpful with the rest of the strings, as well.
If you believe I have missed you, just drop me a line and we’ll sort it out!
Thanks also to the other donors, including andy569 with his JAMS strings and counterweight, and thehandcoder for the above-pictured yoyo holders!

I want to take this time also to give an extra-special shout out to Andre and YYE. As most of you know, the “around a year” division had two winners. I didn’t want anything to be a pain for Andre, so when I dropped him a note to advise him who should get the gift codes, I just said that bpg and beezy were the winners.
I should have known better and predicted that I was going to do the opposite of what was intended: I made it a bit MORE confusing. When bpg got his code, he was all, “No way am I letting Greg get away with this,” and contacted YYE to either have the code split up; or if the code couldn’t be split up, to see what the options were for passing it along (bottom line: he refused to take the full code on a tie!). Andre, being Andre, just said, “A tie? No problem. Full gift code for Greg, too.”
I mean seriously. Where else are you going to find a guy so easy-going and accommodating? Nowhere. Super-generous to donate the prizes in the first place, and then taking it to a whole other level with the way he handled the tie situation. Unreal.
Thanks Andre and YYE! Yet another reason why YYE is the only way I choose to fly.
Glad you are liking the strap frodoslair. I appreciate the nice words. I’ve been thinking about throwing them up on the BST. I’ll have to add your review to the page when I put it up.
Thanks
Ben
