NJ 3n1 Gamble... Did I screw up?

Caught this No Jive 3-in-1 going for under $30 shipped, so I had to risk it… Looks like an earlier model, but don’t like the looks of the hub. Looks like it may be stripped and I may never get it taken apart. Anyone with experience with these think I’ll be able to make this thing playable? Or think I just wasted 25ish bucks?

Not sure but if you get it and can’t get it to your liking, I’ll see if I can work a trade you like and I’ll play around with it

Appreciate it. Haven’t had one before, and hope I can get it playing. But before I go and ruin it trying, I’ll keep you in mind.

It looks like it has the mojo… Fingers crossed!

Knowing where it’s coming from, it’ll be a week or two before it ever shows. I’ll be sure to post how it turns out…

impossible to tell for sure, but in my experience that doesn’t look especially problematic. I’ve certainly seen hexes way more off-kilter which still play fine. To me it looks like the hex is a little recessed which might make it look worse than it is. That’s a good price for a No JIve.

I’m reassured. Thanks. Excited to try my first one! Not used to seeing them pop up in this sort of condition. Couldn’t pass it up for that price. I watched another lucky guy win a pair on the Goodwill auction site for under $40! And one was the jeweled walnut model… The auction was just titled: “Assorted Yo-Yos,” but really didn’t have the money to fight for them at the time.

I’ve honestly got worse condition than that and still made it play. It’ll probably be fine.

A few gems in this one. I’m spent until next Thursday, or I’d be tempted to throw a bid on it. Not sure what that Yeti one is, but looks like it could be a fun one. Can never have too many Fireballs, and I like the red Butterfly.

And this one keeps getting relisted… I love the Russell! But the last made in Taiwan Russell I had broke even faster than the ones made in the Philippines. Or maybe I just have really bad luck with Russells? I think they cost too much for them to wear out quicker than a Duncan. They loop flawlessly for a string or 2 and then start falling apart on me! I shredded the axle on one, and it wasn’t solid wood. Looked like a wire surrounded by toothpicks!
