Need wood....

I’m thinking about getting my first real fixed axle throw.
What would you guys recommend?
My only stipulation is that it has to come apart.
I get a lot of knots…

Also, is the type 10 cotton string still the thread of choice?

You should be happy with any of the TMBRs. My favorite is the Turner.

Type-10 is very good string.

A No Jive is a great starting point, but as yooldman said all of the TMBR’s are great. They have a new Ed Haponik signature model coming out soon, which is one of my favorites. But I also love the Sullivan’s and Fremonts also.

Thanks, I’ve been thinking about the new EH.
The Fremont looks good. Is the Irving a take apart?

The only think I couldn’t figure out about the TMBRs is how to replace the axle.
The replacement axles look different from how the yoyo comes apart.

Agreed, the No Jive is a great first wooden yo-yo. The axle is easy to replace when worn out and the metal nut/bolt are less cause for concern if you’re repetitively taking the yo-yo apart.
