Looking to get a yo-yo to learn on and attempt to do some of the simple tricks with. Any help/advice appreciated. Jimmie
It helps if you define what you mean by simple. Do you mean “Walk the Dog” simple or “Double or Nothing” simple?
“Walk the Dog” simple… I’m not completely sure…
“DOuble or Nothing” simple… go for something like a Dark Magic, New Breed, Hitman, or Speeder.
Simple as in beginner tricks and hopefully working my way up to itermediate stuff.
I started off with a super-yo renegade. It’d pretty cheap, converts from butterfly to imperail, and is made of plastic that could shake off a 9mm round, so it doesn’t matter if you smash it into things.
If you have the cash, you can go for the dark magic of X-convict, but, yeah, just starting, I pick Renegade.
FAST 201 it is here on YYE and it is only 10 bucks, couple that with adjustability to make it responsive or unresponsive, it has a bearing, is made of some good plastic, and has a rim weight already in it, you wont get extremely long spin times out of it but it will certainly suffice for any of the beginner and intermediate tricks, I highly reccomend it. If you are ready to move on to the advanced tricks and you are strapped for cash you can always mod it by twisting off the starburst and weaving poly stringinto one side of the starburst. This allows for a much less responsive play and still allows for tight binds.

YoYoFactory FAST 201, it’s my choice.
You do have to take out the guts (including orings) and replace them with bumblebee, dragonfly, or mosquito guts. Then it will work

Thanks for the input ended up ordering a journey and velocity. Will probably end up getting a lyn fury when i can find one in stock somewhere, just wanting to try out a variety of yo yo’s to see what i like and don’t like. Jimmie
To be honest I’m glad you didn’t take their advice. What you got is perfect for a beginner. Especially the velocity. You can change it to play however you want. Good choices!
Good choice! IMHO dark magics are not that great so yeah lol you made the best choice for beginner yoyos out there!
The dark magic is great. There are just better beginner yoyo’s out there.
