A new unannounced YoYoFactory monometal yo-yo is up on SLUSNY that is likely to be one of the products that could appear in the most recent YoYoExpert 5A Mystery Box. The images listed on the page feature the 5A symbol on the caps and the recent announcement of Steve Brown involvement with the project via 5A YoYo Instagram account support this theory, while the official description on the Box product page mentions an " aluminum yoyo (that) is not identical to a yoyo you already have in your collection".

The YoYoExpert x YoYoFactory Mystery Box released back in 2016 included the original Pivot monometal that featured the fingerspin-ready metal cap insert, later to be seen on the Czech Point Pivot yo-yo, a signature release for European legend Vashek Kroutil. While the technology didn’t use the Pivot name, it appeared on the Sherpa yo-yo from the same year released under Basecamp.

The most recent YoYoFactory designs in the Arrow line used the plastic ring insert present on the newest model, and while SLUSNY mentions “Euro Shutter” and “Fingerspin Shutter” on the page, we are making a wild guess about the naming for the final product.

The full spec list and international release date are yet to be announced — the recently updated SLUSNY website now lists this yo-yo in three colourways priced at 1032 Kč (around $48 US). The YoYoExpert 5A Mystery Box is still available for $39.99 and might have a chance of Shutter Pivot to be included.

Yes, looks random. I got a red rubber ball, red clear die, and a yellow solid die in a bag; and a solid yellow plastic ball in the shutter pivot box.

Mine showed up earlier this week…nice value for $40, especially since I didn’t have any version of the Shutter or Replay yet.

The cap is interesting how are the finger spins compared to the other fingerspin cap yyfs?

Any body with a normal shutter how does this stack up? Height, width, weight, playability?

It’s almost exact same dimensions as the original shutter. It feels lighter on the string to me.

It is the duncan counter weight set. I have a bag from a couple years ago and they’re indistinguishable.

It’s very similar to the Arrow or Metal Arrow, in that it’s a plastic cap, also not the best for finger spins. I personally would have prefered it to be hollow body metal like the other Pivot yoyos.

I got the same color in the Replay but the Shutter I got is the black with pink caps.

I’m guessing that’s all they were able to sell when Duncan held the patent for 5A.
