My latest trick video called: "Merrooowww"

Hey guys, I recently filmed this trick video with my friend Vero, another yo-yoer from Idaho, it was a pretty fun time and I put quite a bit of time into editing the video, I hope you guys enjoy watching it as much as I did making it

Mike

That was sweet! thanks for posting!

nice job

Anybody who hasn’t seen this yet really needs to take a look. Great filming, fun unexpected elements (the “follow the yoyo” shot near the beginning is nuts… must try to steal that technique…). The other thrower, Vero, is really good and someone I don’t think we’ve seen before (more accurately, I haven’t and I’m lumping y’all in with me!).

And of course, fantastic tricks.

KiteBug and Golin, thank you both, I’m glad you found the video to be enjoyable! And Greg! Thanks for the kind words and endorsement, I truly appreciate it

Wow dude it’s videos like these that keep me pushing forward. I have recently gotten into a lot of the monkeyfinger stuff. Sadly I haven’t be able to purchase one of the throws yet. But I love the video and your style is sick man. Thanks for posting.

SICK EVERYTHANG

Can u tell me how u did that at 0:15 the editing part, was it in the software or while taking the shot? Which software

atombomb3r: Thank you dude, I’m humbled that I could be someone’s reason to keep on keeping on. I remember watching videos back in 04 and 05 that had me thinking that, I wish I had told that to the makers of those videos.

YourBBQ: Thank you! Sick name

yoing4lyf: It might be a little hard via text but it was really simple, however it was time consuming. I saw Takeshi (i think) do this in one of his videos a long time ago and had to give it a try. I use adobe premiere to edit and it allows you to crop footage. So what I did was I first split up the trick into individual frames, and then I cropped each frame individually with the same amount of zoom (I copied the crop from one frame to the next) Then I stuck a round sticky tab to my screen and I moved each frame of that shot until the yo-yo was underneath the round sticky note. It took me about 30 minutes to do it. I bet there is a faster way, but I don’t know about it. If you want to give it a try go for it, but it takes a ton of time.

hahaha that’s amazing work though I’ve to admit. I understood what you said, I’m on a regular use of editing software just not very pro at all haha. I’ll probably give it a try on my next video then  I think the combo I’m working on might have a similar trick that would look awesome under the effect. Although I’ve to tell you Adobe Premiere is a great software but I believe there is much better and easier ones that don’t require sticky notes :stuck_out_tongue: LOL If I come across any that make effects like that easier (I probably will) I’ll let you know!

Thanks though

dude that was sick! that trick at the beginning reminded me of a tre flip hahaha

I am very impressed. You have an insanely cool style. Keep on throwing:)

“Making a porno.”

Dude, this vid was sick! Loved it.

That was hilarious. My favorite part;P

YoRED: Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! I’m not sure I know what a tre flip is though lol, sounds like something from skateboarding…

thefluteninja: Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy my style  Been working on it a long time, still working on it in fact haha  No worries, I will definitely keep on throwing!

Ibanez and thefluteninja: Haha yea, I had been asked that about 5 times that day and that was my way of politely saying, “What do you think it looks like, doofus?”

You basically did rotoscoping… Sort of. I’m wondering how motion tracking the yoyo would work?

I thought rotoscoping was that technique where you take real footage and make it look animated?

I saw an ad for a video editor that was promoting their motion tracking feature and wondered the same thing-- would it work for that Mike Montgomery style edit?

Casey888, like what GregP is saying, from what I’ve seen of rotoscoping and how I’ve read the words description whatever I did doesn’t really sound like rotoscoping. The reason I don’t think it sounds like it is because what I’ve seen of rotoscoping usually means something has been removed from one bit of footage and placed into another. In mine I never removed or replaced anything, I simply crop zoomed in on the yo-yo and then frame by frame moved the yo-yo back to the center of the shot until all the frames had the yo-yo centered. I’m sure there is a name for this but I honestly don’t think rotoscoping (as I’ve seen it described elsewhere, google) fits the bill.

That being said, rotoscoping could be a cool idea for a yo-yo video lol
