Whenever I throw a trapeze or a double or nothing the yoyo only spins for a few seconds. What can I do to try and make it spin there for a long time? I am using a Duncan Metal Drifter and Duncan cotton string.
Could you provide some more information? Such as the yoyo your using and maybe string.

first things first, probably dont use a duncan yoyo or string just for learning because usually they’re not the best string trick yoyos.
just try and get a more solid throw and you should get some better sleep time
i would first get a better yoyo and better string. that being said maybe try and do ur tricks a little faster so u can still have time to bring it back to ur hand. so luck and let me know how it works out
maybe post a video
Try throwing a little harder, and maybe use poly string…
From what I hear the Metal Drifters aren’t a bad throw after cleaning the bearing, and obviously using a new string, preferably poly. That is what I would recommend. Video below on how to clean the bearing. Good luck!
with the metal drifter you should be able to at least get a 30 second spin. When you got in moving the yoyo up and down the string can cause the string to wrap around the bearing. make sure you’re not doing that. Also make sure your response pads aren’t ripped up because that could cause some problems. Finally, while not necessary polyester is generally though of as better for 1a.
I had a metal drifter and could land any trick on it. It is a wonderful yoyo at a great price.
Anyway, the thing you need to work on is a strong throw, developing this will allow the yoyo to spin whilst in these mounts.
Can you bind? If so, I highly recommend using only 1 pad and cleaning the bearing. You will be greeted with a dead unresponsive and very wonderful yoyo.
