imo if you fingerspin your yoyo or thumbgrind with your fingernail this is gonna happen with a lot of 7000 series aluminum

In my experience it has only happened to a few yo-yos out of a couple hundred Ive owned and many are al7. Cannot confirm if all the ones that have had this happen are al7
It’s usually out of the brands control sadly. I recently had a proto batch which was impacted by this but only for half of the protos.
Generally it comes down to the anodization shop the OEM uses, the color and sometimes just (un)luck.
As for the topyo vs FPM vs other. All shops vary, many of the boutiques in this forum use a mix of shops for a mix of projects. Sometimes it comes down to lead times and coms, other times pricing.
