Cheers @twitch77

I’ll get filmed this weekend with as many catchup videos as possible. I’ve been hovering around with not much direction for the past few months so it will be great to get some momentum going again. Been helping @MoonageMin a bit with a couple of these so I should get caught up pretty quick (until filmers curse kicks in and nothing lands for the camera)

Yeah, same here…this Trick-A-Week Challenge has been amazing for me with this hobby!

Oh cool! Are you the guy in all his photos that’s having a slumber party (lol ) with him?

@twitch77 lol nope. I’m much more of the “hiding at home on the internet” type of guy so it’s just been support over messenger and making a few videos with tips. Not slumber buddies just yet :joy:

Hello Guys, I would like to join as well. I’m not really a beginner but there’re a lot of beginner\intermediate tricks that I have never properly practiced. If I well understood this week’s trick is Smoothie, is it?
When is the deadline set? Sunday or Monday?

I have the same curse… but it’s slowly getting better. It’s so weird. I’ll be alone, but when the camera is on I feel like someone is watching me… maybe the NSA is :man_shrugging:

I seem to have the same curse both on AND off camera!
:joy:

awesome to have you

Every Monday we start a new trick…though we announce the tricks on Sunday.

We’re currently on week #5 and we’re working on the trick Smoothie.

Videos aren’t required…so no pressure on that!
Though I do encourage doing so as it provides an extra layer of motivation I think…and can be a really nice tool to use to help you improve!

Can’t wait to hear how your progress is going!

Whaaaat!?

lol I realize I’m a big dork…but I’m grinning so big atm IRL haha. So happy for you! That was awesome!! Well done!

I still can’t do spirit bomb (properly). I actually tweaked it in a way so I can land it consistently. That last hop through the triangle just never hits for me.

Same really, but there’s no evidence when the camera isn’t on

Week 5, Smoothie, also Spirit Bomb after

And if anyone is interested, here is the speed combo I’ve been working on. This is just clips from a previous video trimmed down to just the roughly 25 seconds of the actual trick. I’ve landed it successfully a few times, just not on video yet.

Loved that green triangle thing you threw into the Smoothie…and damn dude! That speed combo you’re working on is looking SO good!!

Hello guys! I am Gemma (ge4yo on IG), thought I had lost access to my YYE account but seems like I didn’t!

@MoonageMin told me about this challenge the week after I met him at SRC in the UK, and I thought it was super cool. I wish I had a motivation like this when I was a beginner. When he asked me for a tutorial, I didn’t hesitate to say yes!

I’ve read every single comment and watched every single video on the thread this week, you all are really nice. I’m very glad that you all liked the trick, and I am astonished by how fast you learnt the trick, it took me well over a month to master back in the day. Thank you all for the kind messages (both here and the ones I’ve received directly on insta)!

When I filmed the video I felt very insecure about my English (both my yoyo and English skills come from watching André Boulay’s tutorials :joy:), but I am so glad that through different angles and slowmos you guys could understand it! This has motivated me to try and make more yoyo tutorials (hadn’t done one since 2012).

Last but not least, I encourage you all to film and share your progress with the tricks! Auto documenting your progress is super valuable in the long run, it helps remember tricks after a while. Whenever you feel like you haven’t made any progress, you can look back and see the more basic tricks you used to do, or even if you’re doing the same tricks, you’ve probably got smoother.

To finish this long comment, I’d like to share one of my first ever yoyo videos. I’ve never and will never stop learning tricks, but this is from the very beginning of my yoyo journey. Way before I went to my first contest, waay before there were any local players and waaay before I could afford going to other European contests and meet great people like Min

Have a Happy New Decade and see you “Around the World”!

Yay! That’s awesome that this has given you some new spark! How exciting!
I really felt like breaking the trick into steps…then showing multiple viewing angles and using some slow-mo worked extremely well. It was all well explained and easy to follow.

Thanks for the comment! It’s so neat that you took your time to do this for us! Thank you so much Gemma!!

I think it’s just because your tutorial was so good  Really, it was fantastic. Thank you for filming it.

Is that one of those posture straps? Do you find it helps?

It seems to help a bit. PT helps a whole lot more though. I’m trying to exercise a bit more at home (mostly PT stuff). Neck injuries suck man.

Edit:
FWIW, I think a better one would help a whole lot more. I think it would also be more effective without any underlying major issues like I have.

I am planning to buy a new one soon.
